Just to replace one simple hose that would take 2 minutes in an ABA, turned into a razor blade mission. I battled with a rusty clamp and melted lower radiator hose for a while.

The nice sound is not worth the aggravation.

No idea about the MK3 but on the Corrado the front end is pretty easy to remove. Takes me about 10 minutes to disassemble. I've learned that removing the front end beats burns and bloody knuckles.

mk3 is super easy, IF you have it prepared.....and by prepared I mean, nothing it clipped to the rad support & the fender liners are either gone, or no longer screwed to the bumper skin.....

if that's the case, you unplug the headlight harness, pull the dummies, unbolt from frame rail, unbolt from fender rail, unbolt rad clips, unclip hood cable, Done, the entire nose comes off.

It took me less then 1 hr to remove the entire front clip from the jetta at home.....and those damn fender bolts on the fire wall were under a gallon of undercoating.

I totally forgot to look. I'll be down there again on Saturday to clean out the garage so I'll try and find them.

Now, if a MK3 were under there, it would be fitting.

On another note, it seems that we cannot have more than one car running at a time these days. The battery light came on while driving home from work in the Trek. I swapped out the battery with the one in the MK2 to see if it was just old. Light was still on and goes away when WOT.

Guess I will be replacing the alternator. For now, the Trek is dead in the driveway.

seriously......I got 2 hrs in the loft tonight......1/2 the insulation is in & 3 out of 8 sheets of plywood down......

so tired of soft stepping between beams & working on my knees in cramped spaces

all this, so I can rearrange the loft, to strip the jetta, so I can work on the damn car.
