posting from work. Livingston is okay but will be without power for another week (estimate was originally by 8pm on 11/5, now it's by midnight on 11/9 -___-). Neighboring areas have power, so I guess our couple of blocks (which includes power to a major intersection as well as the volunteer fire department ) are the low man on the totem pole.. sigh @ ghetto of Livingston

In Denville, the car tent that was over the 20th and cabby flipped clean over both cars (no damage except some scuffs/dents from piled tires tumbling down into the bumpers) and came to rest/rub against the hood and fender of the TT. The car still works so it could def be worse, soo it looks like the only car in need of a paint job pre-hurricane may get a new paint job

Glad to see everyone pulling through this.......I took the wife & baby out to the inlaws in PA.....I'm home with the dogs, with power to my sump pump & fridge/freezer via genny but no power, heat or water. (us country folk have wells)

plenty of food, and beverages.....power is still out at the shop, power at my wifes job in Avenel just came up this morning.....

only damage here was 1 tree down, through a fence panel & 2 broken fence posts due to the high winds.....could have been much worse, I laid in bed on sunday night listening to my house make noises I've never heard before.

Sump pump has been going non stop since sunday.

I'm not a very religious person, but do believe there has to be something greater then us out there.

Whatever/whoever is out there, God, I thank you.

the vanagon's roof took a hit from the top of the 60' pine tree falling on it. the roof near the hatch has a 2" deep dent. the house got some trim knocked off by a separate tree that's still resting on it. it could've been much worse.

soemone just posted on FB that NAPA in south plainfield just got a shipment of generators if anyone is on that area.

I know it might be a long shot, but does anybody near the Central New Jersey area have a box truck or enclosed trailer that could be used for next weekend to help collect donated items?

It will NOT be driven, it will simply be parked in the Edison Expo center where over 20k people are likely to attend.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated! Thanks.

Avis truck rental is about $120 a day......most truck drivers are working pretty hard right now.....my dad being one of them....he's been going 18 hour days since this mess started.....

Bro in law just got a generac 6500. Plan is to hardwire to circ board with a transfer switch for the whole house. Can't turn everything on at once but you can use every outlet and not only select 4 or 5 breakers. Bro is looking at smaller truly portable for just heat blower and fridge. I am looking to visit them for tv and a charge of the cell phone:-). I can manually run furnace by bypassing with a Popsicle stick;-)

Ps both my hot water heater and over 50 yr old furnace have an always on pilot light, baseboard hot water heat can run by gravity and not use the circulating pump...... Old school FTW!

Nope, I have had power since Wednesday nite late. Sis got her power back on Friday night and her generator arrived on Saturday.... Good to go till next storm.
