My new (used) flared 7 spoke oem Audi A6 rims 18x8" ET48 arrived today.
I couldn't wait and had to mount them on to see how they would look, although not a great indication with no tires and it jacked up but also wanted to get an idea of how much clearance there is.

Yesturday i picked up a set of used but in good nick Dunlop Winter 3D 235/40/18 & 225/40/18.
Also one OEM VW center cap from the dealership to check whether it fits on the Audi's and it goes on like a glove. Have ordered the caps and black VW lug bolt caps off eBay.

Hopefully if I get time on the weekend they should go on?

drove it to work... which is rare since the wife usually has it as the baby-hauler.

It will prob. get a full tank of gas and a wash later today if I'm feeling up to it.

Went to the post office and picked up a door ding.

Can u believe some girl pulls in next to me and opens her door and dings my car...Urghhh then she won't give me her insurance and takes off. She's on the phone, parks all crooked and when she hits it, she looks at me and walks right into the PO. Gives me time to take pics I guess. I waited for her to come out and finally had to go in and tell her to give me her info. She looks for insurnace and finally says she won't give it to me.

Luckily I got her tags, VIN and name and digits before she drove off. Oh well....Cop came, took the report. Gonna do it as a vandalism report. Once we determine she has no insurance (high probability) then I'll take it by dent repair to see what they can do.
I know its a tiny ding but I was in the car, she looks right at me and then walks away hoping I won't say anything. No Class, No Class!

What an ignorant *****!!! I hate when people aren't careful with their doors, but to hit a car and then not be apologetic and offer to fix damages is something else!

Even though it's a little bump it still sucks :-(

Kudos to you for persistently following through with this! Like you I also take pride in taking good care of my car and therefore find it totally unacceptable it if people are not being respectful towards it. How would this girl react if you damaged something of hers that she really cares about?

Went to the shop and got my variant back......awsome

H&Rs installed and the car is lower 3", not 1.25" as ad by them....Why? For Brazil they have a setup different due to roads conditions.....like the stance but guess it's too low.

    EBC brakes installed.....fantastic.

    Yokohamas C-Drives 235/45 17 installed

    Suspension checked and clear....all set

    Polished and detailed.

    Handling is absurd.....different car.

pics tomorrow if no rain down here. Guess you gonna like it.

Hey 2shots1beer, I got my Variant back today. H&R installed. Guess what, man? the car is lower almost 3" lower. Know why? Because the setup for Brazill is higher.

Hey looking good! I've heard lamin-x is tricky to apply. Was it difficult?

No its very easy and almost fool proof you can peel it off and re-apply it many times bf u decided u like tht way its on. Also it breaths so any water left underneath will evaporate out and if u have large air bubbles u can poke them with a needle and push the air out then the lamin-x will heal it self so there wouldn't be a hole

lol...yeah I know, it's got a gap wider then Terry Thomas's front teeth.
When finances allow it will get the drop, which will have to be sooner then later but in the meantime I can live with it.
It won't be anything extreme probably Eibach or H&R springs.

Installed Split angle (Aspherical) glass mirrors. (left view, then right view). When driving with these mirrors you can see cars that are right beside you, I always disliked the visibility of the stock mirrors on the passat, there was a definite blind spot, that these completely remove. I like the blue tinting as well.

Installed picture of the Euro Light Switch. (it has all 7 functions. Off/Auto/Markers/Headlights On/Marker w/fog/headlights w/fog/also has the rear fog but I don't have it installed).

Thanks for the info. May give it a shot. Btw your ride is smokin' - just the right amount of understated attitude, but not a cop magnet.

Gradually dressing up my '07 value edition (or my passat which happens to have pre-deleted chrome trim)

So far Passt insignia-ed monster mats, rear sunshade, splash guards, votex passat insignia-ed door sill trims, votex chrome exhaust tips (yes, there is chrome underneath all that salt and turbo belch in the pic), and vw oem Euro front license mount and mock euro vanity DE license plate, mock alloy plastic hubcaps with ebay mock 'dub center caps to cover my 16" winter steelies

Today I "installed" my color matched, painted to order ebay (Thai?) spoiler ($1 item cost + $25shipping - that was a hoot). Ain't peel and stick wonderful.

Gives it a slight bit more "atty tood" as we say in Philly.

Also, this week I received my VW Driver Gear springs (a big shout out to Bud@CheckeredFlagVW.com who was able to provide what was probably the last set in North America available at ridiculously low closeout pricing.)

The install of those springs will be my first "non peel and stick install" besides my votex tips (which involved some bolts and loctite) which will be done by a nearby stealership when the first blooms of spring appear here, along with the return of the catalunya alloy wheels from their winter vacation.

Just grab the cell phone, and put a big scratch in the middle of the screen, then hand it back and call it even if it happens again :-)

So after a long time in trying to find a replacement for the chrome pieces on the shifter and the cover where it says P R N D S I have had no luck. The chrome was bubbling and peeling off and it looked horrible. So I decided to change that today. I took it all apart, stripped the chrome junk off and painted it all flat black to match the buttons inside. It looks amazingly better. I'll have to put some pictures up but getting rid of that chrome was the best thing I could have done. It used to blind me with the reflection of the sun at the right angle but now it just looks stealthy.

***EDIT*** Apparently I'm not cool enough to post attachments yet so if you want a picture to see how it turned out just pm me and I'll email you one.

It used to blind me with the reflection of the sun at the right angle but now it just looks stealthy.
pics please......mine is perfect but I have the same problem with the reflection...matter of fact all chrome on the dashboard sometimes bothers me with reflection,
