I assume that you are talking about the Golf. It is not my car! (If it was, I would be in the wrong section of this forum!) But as far as I know, they are stock GTI tails..

Got an alignment. Seems I was toed out a fair bit, which I believe caused some tire cupping.

Had the transmission valve body replaced under the extended warranty, replaced air filter, cabin filter, oil change, and installed some scuff plates on the door sills. Hopefully spark plugs next week and hopefully gonna throw on my 19' S4 Peelers on

Going to work this morning, noticed that the 1st-2nd gear shifts were a little rough. Talked to my VW mechanic, and he said, "get the cat replaced before the 80k warranty runs out, and your trans issue is probably something as cheap as an n80 valve, or gulp...the valve body."

Good thing I got an extended warranty that covers the car for 24mos/24,000 miles and covers all the above items!!!

    Anyone else had similar issues?

I love the car, it is by far and away the nicest car I have ever owned. I just hope it isnt going to be the VW I regret buying, since it is #17 in 20 years!!!

The Valve body is most definitely the culprit. Change those cats as well. GL

    Hey there

Please, I'm intrigued, what is plastidip? Is it along the lines of the vinyl wrap? Is it better/worse/cheaper, more expensive than the wrapping concept?

    Thanks for your time...

    Andrew
Its a rubber coating witch was originally designed to cover tools to give them protection and better grip. it can peel fairly easy. And repair even easier than vinyl.

It's cheaper than vinyl wrap and it can be applied easier and faster just like painting a car using any kind of paint sprayer or spray cans.

Now day you can find a lot of different colors finishes and even textures and graphs like.

You can buy a color kit and create your own custom colors/shades.

After the initial investment of $120 if you don't have paint sprayer you can change the color of the car for less than $100.00 the cost of one gallon of pasti-dip can go from 48 to 80 dollars

The quote of getting just the vinyl that i want it to cover my car was around $800 just material no installation.

You can find hundred of videos on youtube about plastidip

Here's this post from the cc forums about plastidip cars http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?t=6010421
    Plasti dip whole CC???

True that. My friend who has done a lot of work on my car said the same thing. But he said we'll cut the bottom frame of it out to allow more air to come in. Better performance and all. I'll keep you all updated. He's doing the job on Thursday.

A little update on my car. It's still at the dealer and they said the valve body is covered under the warranty. But gave me a list of other things that need attention but not necessary. So I hope to get the car back tomorrow and the only thing I paying for is the transmission filter 50 bucks.

    Misha- you are lucky man))
    Where are you from? Moscow?

  31. 05-22-2013 08:21 AM #3706
Nope Colorado. My wife is from Russia. Thanks I was sweating bullets cause it was 50/50 repair. If they found nothing wrong with the valve body then the repairs came out of my pocket. But if they found that the valve body was defective they would pay for everything and that's what the case was here

  32. 05-22-2013 09:03 PM #3707
Ok got the car back tonight and all I have to say is WOW. It's so amazing to drive now and I don't feel a thing when it shifts.

Now I have to work on the list of things that are wrong on the car
