took the first steps and put on my new MFSW. just awaiting the new module and hopefully everything will work!

It looks so sweet though and driving is more fun!

If I didn't need the multi function for my 2008 manual, does that make the install a breeze or is there still a lot of tweaking involved? I can't afford to have my car down as it is my daily.

honestly,

If you have the $$ to get the wheel, correct harness, clock spring, and module, the install should take less than 2 hours. I had the original wheel off in 30 min once I figured how to disengage the air bag. You will need a 12mm 12 point bit to remove the wheel. (NAPA auto parts). I am running this with the current module until my new one comes in a few days.

I'm not sure if I will still need VAG but if so, I have the HEX cable coming in a week. (i'm getting really into this!)

Hopefully next week I will have all the functions working. I will do a better write up then.

Put the ST Coilovers on last weekend. This is them set at about half way the drop was about 2.5 inches. The ride is a lot better than I thought it would be.
Cornering is so much better, its on rails…

Oh and for the record I did NOT have to remove the axle bolt !!!

got my wheels resurfaced and re-mounted, rebuilt my tpms, & put on some gorilla locking studs (to make sure the person stealing the wheels will have to possess an IQ of at least 50 to remove them), and then proceeded to park like a douche in my parking garage at the office for effect

Also, wasted my time and money at my body shop.

DO NOT BUY EBAY R-LINE REAR VALENCE REPS, THEY ARE A POS.

I got a call from my shop after spraying the valence to come take a look at the lip and that it wasnt fitting right. God damnit. So i take a half day at work, and drive down to the shop. I get there to find this;



The oem lip attaches to the rear bumper through a set of clips of spacing 'A', for correct fitment, common sense would have it that the spacing on the R-line lip would need to be equivalent. This logic eluded the makers of that mold 'A' does not equal 'B', and therefore does not equal 'C', which is the spacing on the OEM bumper.

So, being a hands on individual i decided to have a go at trying to make things work (i figured i've already wasted my money on paint and dis-assembly, and since i'm not shipping a $200 lip back to china to incur $150 in shipping charges i either make it work or it goes in the trash. Well we used a dremel saw to cut off the lower clips on the lip since they are at a higher height than required and would interfere with pressing in the upper clips, and decided to just clip in the upper clips and then fab up some sort of mounts or screw the pieces together in some inconspicuous way. Well we did just that, dremeled and then clipped in the upper clips(which were a PITA), and then found out how much we really wasted our time;



The damn lip isnt long enough by about 1" on each side and the side clips dont even engage as they are in the wrong position. So we go about removing the lip and mounting my color matched oem piece back on (while using profanities that would shock even the most seasoned sailors).

Moral of the story; STICK TO OEM LIPS.

ps. i got the r line front/rear from the same vendor and the front fit swimmingly, so maybe just stay away from the rear.

Slow hatch, sorry about the rear lip. The refinished wheels look good. Did u have them done by a shop? Did they remove the bolts around the lip to refinish? More info on that please,even if u pm me. I'm getting ready to do something w the wheels on my pepperwagen and i have bolts around lip and don't know how to proceed. I believe my wheels are just one piece and give the illusion of multiple piece. The lip is currently machined and the centers are grey. I would like to powder coat entire wheel dark grey. Thanks

I Like the black grill more, and good choice on the VMRs they're such a nice wheel.

Also for springs have you looked into the Neuspeed kit they offer a great drop (they'll mix two kits for passat guys 1.8in front drop 1.7in rear drop) paired with Koni FSD shocks offer an amazing ride stiffer then stock but still amazingly smooth

Looking very good are you going lower? i dont remember if you have coils yet. but i think a lil lower will really set those wheels off on your baby

New front springs to lower the front moar, Black mirror caps (off a 2010 my tech hooked me up with) and all shiny new lug bolts

coming up in the next few days an ABT front lip and "HPFP upgrade"(company's name) HPFP rebuild kit.

put in my euro cupholder, which, in my eyes, was one of the most infuriating jobs i have ever performed on a vehicle. I wont get into the details but it was a good 6hrs worth cussing and sweating in the car getting that pos in. Dont get me wrong, i loved the end result, but i dont know if the aneurysm that i got from all the was worth it. I snapped a few angry cellphone pics along the way Pretty much the ENTIRE center console has to be removed, and tearing into my interior like this made me wanna cry.

The rims are 2pc, so if you remove the bolts around the face of the wheel the barrel and the lip and face will seperate. I dont know whether or not they completely disassembled the wheels to straighten the barrels and to polish the lips out, but i think that they didnt as they only charged me around 125/wheel to refinish them and to take out a few bends. Look behind where your "bolts" are on your wheels, if there is a nut on the other side holding the lip face to the barrelt then they are true forged multi piece wheels. If not, and the bolts look fake, then chances are its just a cast wheel made to look like something a bit more pricey.

in that picture they do look like a good contrast, but from other angles i feel like they stick out like a sore thumb sometimes. I also mostly want them because of the dual color LEDs for the turn signals (its SO beautiful in person to watch them flip colors between amber and red from the same led array).
