Thread: What car am I going to buy?

    1. 09-16-2010 05:52 PM #151
chris, timbo is right. get something rugged and cheap like a pre-owned 7 seater ford ter. your kids will trash it anyway, and you won't take a huge depreciation hit. just make sure it can tow. there is a lotus 2 eleven on carpoint for sale. it comes with trailer as well; just vinyl wrap your firm's livery down the side and colin's your uncle. henry will be happy, he already gave it the thumbs-up!
your family needs will be attended to, and your addiction will be drip-fed.

That's a plan, want to go halves on the Lotus? Henry approves:

Probably will only ever have one toy, and that will be the fulvia, so need the renault as the office car/track day amusement.

in all seriousness these may be worth checking out if you can find a pampered toorak tractor etc with full service hist, plus they can tow 3500kg braked.

or something like this 7 seater with side and curtain airbags plus awd and jacked up for trips to the snow they are becoming cheap now can't beat them for value prob could get one for $25k - $65k new. Wouldn't find anything much safer for the price.

Didn't, went there today with family in tow, but dealership closed. Must be an English thing?
Looked at the Zermatt Silver 7 seater there. V.Cool, Bianca approves, but then a drive might change that in an instant.

Won't have an opportunity to sort this out for a couple of weeks as I'm in Sydney this week, (Although I'll take my friend's 60th Anniversary for a spin), so will keep you posted.

Are we about to see the big build up resulting in a memorable let down?

Tune in to Vortex next week to find out!

I just picture Bianca, being a sensible mum, opting for a 7 seated Prado.

Not sensible at all, she married me.

It all hinges on the test drive.

Wayne, any tips on how to string this thread out to 45 pages? I'm getting a bit bored already...

      Chris,

If you are in Sydney, head out to Davis Performance Landys and drive their chipped 60th anno. Chalk and cheese compared to a stocker.

Great, looks like you need a Land Rover, GPS, and provisions to get there.

My mk1 is having work done at annangrove and let me tell you it's not close to much!!

To reach 45 pages you need to make a certain decision, add the drama of a late test drive to sway your decision away and then order something else totally on a whim.

Are your parents/in-laws all in NZ? This is an important consideration in family motoring purchases.
