MKV GTI 06
MIL (Check Engine Light) came on whilst driving around the other day. Really reluctant to take it to the dealership, unless you guys/gals suggest otherwise.
APR'd, Intake, PCV fix.

Mike (guy with PERFECT OEM white MK2) has a reader he could possibly hook it up too, you would need to check with him thoughCall around, there are some places that can just do a simple scan to see if the fix is easy. Otherwise you should try to find someone with a VAG-COM and the know how to use it.
DONT FORGET MEET SAT NOV 6th,
Were planning on a drive to Idaho City or something to get on the road. let shoot for 12-2 before we leave and we can get lunch once we get there![]()

Sorry about the thread jack you guys.
Occasional hicups, fuel cut, misfires deep into 6th gear (dsg)....Always seemed octane dependent. The higher the better the car runs. I lived next to Sears point (infineon raceway) for a while so it never really manifested itself. IDK - Perhaps I'm associating independent points....
Nonetheless, that fuel cut only ever occurs between 1st and 2nd at wide open throttle. And the misfire....if that's what I;m feeling always occurs in 6th (it's a slight stumble)....
#115
Are you stage 2? What octane file are you using with your APR? Have you had your cam follower checked? coil packs replaced under recall yet? stock spark plugs?
It could be either bad plugs or coil packs causing the misfire. If you are stage 2 you might be getting fuel cuts from the programing and need to get an aftermarket HPFP and update your software to stage 2+. You also might be using the wrong octane file, I know I was using my 93oct file until pretty much every place in the valley switched to 91oct. Like I said, take it to Jeff's or maybe even S-Car-Go and have it scanned.

If we're meeting in Eagle and heading to Idaho city how 'bout meeting at Los Betos on Eagle or the Buffalo wild wings parking lot? They're close to the freeway for easy access towards Boise? Just throwing that out there.
Can't wait for this one, i had a good time at the last one! Gonna try to have my brother come out in his Mk5, gotta fill xfg1's spot
Sterling, bring me a mk2 center console![]()

That sounds good to me.
If we are cruising I have a suggestion.
in 3 hours we can make this loop with no stops, I hope we stop at some point.
But for those who like twisties.
Here is a mountain road south of Loman. This road is very pretty and very twisty and fun to drive. I am out there all the time for work and I try to always take this way back to Boise.
It is a much longer drive perhaps a drive for another time.
I think the Idaho City loop would be more than enough driving.
just throwing out ideas, I am super excited.
#122
Just need to take into account how the weather will affect this/these drives...
#123
that drive sounds amazing! weather predicts some rain.. hmm debatable...
#124
if it goes down at like 2 i think i can go and even get my brother to go as well.
if i could make a suggestion about the location, i think 3 hours is a little long for an enjoyment ride. maybe something closer and shorter like maybe an hour or so?
#125
This is is very true, anyother plans? If we cut the back of the loop off it could be much shorter.
I have also seen some rain in the weather lets cross our fingers. I really want to take the scirocco, but I might have to settle for the fresh engine swap :/
Cross your fingers guys!

I don't feel as if my car is cool enough to participate in it's current state. I might come to take pictures though!
#131
I'd be down for a bogus run, that big ass loop is a no go for me though. Hopefully the sunshine prevails![]()
#132
If I wasn't working 10am-4:30pm Saturday I'd be all for the drive up there...
#133
a bogus run sounds like a good time, now I have to work on driving that road like a sane person... :/ Rain please dont come. I have heard it will be late afternoon rain, so I am rearing to go asap
cheers,
#134
DO IT!!!I might come to take pictures though!

If he's not already scheduled to shoot the BSU game he said he really wants to go, If we could get a patch of nice weather I'm sure he could get some really good shots up bogus.
Buffalo Wild Wings parking lot at 2pm then. Are we doing food somewhere before or after? I'll probably go grab aor 3 at the Old Chicago downtown if anyone wants to join.
