I'm jonesin' for some pictures from last night. That was a really good turn out and there where some really nice cars. I wish I had a chance to have a closer look at some of them, that's why I need pictures

By chance does anyone have an old 4 speed 020 trans laying around for parts? I finally cracked open the trans on the 82 to figure out the clutch issue and found that the release bearing had grenaded, and the clutch finger had welded itself to one side of the bearing housing, and the pushrod welded itself to the other... I'm now on the hunt for a pushrod and clutch finger.

Ok, so I registered for Euro Sl,utfest. A link was posted a few pages back here in our thread. If anyone else is going to go let me know and we can caravan down there.

I've got friends in the area and I will be staying at their place but I can't vouch for them being ok with hosting a bunch of people. If it's just 2-4 people I can probably talk them into it but more than that probably won't be cool, sorry.

Still, I think this looks like it is going to be a good time and I think we could represent our nameless (almost an) organization pretty well at this.

i was talking about an aba but i do know someone that has a few trannys lying around. dont know what condition they are in but i can ask to see if he would want to get rid of one

i was just looking through some of the back pages and notice you have an obd1 aba that you are selling parts off of it, would you still have any of those. im looking for the idle stablizer valve and all the hoses that come with it.

Pretty sure I have it, although the hoses may or may not need to be reattached. I'll make it back out to the shop on Saturday.

I've also got a complete mk1 non-ac setup (good alternator with pulley, mount, crank pulley, water pump and pulley) if someone is looking for one.

I only need a few parts off of a 4 speed, namely the clutch pushrod, finger, and guide sleeve for the release bearing.

^^ Sorry to hear that man, i'll keep my eyes open.

On the flip side though, I got my hands on a 290 degree cam... I have no idea who makes it but I pulled it from a 2.0 Audi Motor (Hydraulic)

My thoughts are.. "Well hell.. I have a bad ass cam, might as well build a bad ass Corrado"

So this summer will go towards an ABA block, Rebuilt head + Chip/Cam/Header Upgraded Pulley's and STANCE THE HELL OUT OF IT!!! But I haven't been able to find any info on running a 290 cam on a 2.0 block. Any Input other than its going to idle like crap?

it may run like crap depending on which injection system you are using.

  22. 05-20-2012 11:03 PM #1982
Its going into a G60 so DIGI 1,

I pulled it from an 84 GLI running CIS Injection and it ran phenomenal, I cant imagine the Digi system having a hard time keeping up, I'll definitely have to adjust the air/fuel mixture and idle to keep it reasonable

I'm surprised it ran with the CIS. CIS tends to fall on its face when you have valve overlap.

  24. 05-21-2012 02:45 AM #1984
CIS is a beast I try not to tango with half the time haha, I'll most likely just pick up a 268 cam for the build but if I can get the 290 to work without having any issues I'd be happy

I've seen people get some very good results with Large Cams & CIS/CIS-E... Although I know they did spend a fair amount of time with tuning to get those results...

I think it could work... Although a custom chip mapped for the cam would give you the best results, Your idle most likely will need to set around 900 or higher to give a half way decent idle... Larger injectors might be needed as well... However I don't really know for sure as I've never really messed around with Digi1...

To be completely honest though if your going to drive the car somewhat daily or daily I would run either the 268 or a 276 as you will get the most useable power with either of those 2...

Yea I've seen this guy a few times, I pass by his place off Maple Grove I think, the car is usually there if I go that way to work, its a pretty sweet ride. I don't want to go to his house and "stalk" him! But it would be cool to get him hooked up with the rest of us.

    Cool dude indeed ^^

As for the next meet, it's that time of year we get some drives together. Meeting at 7pm is going to cut that out IMO. I'd really really really like to see us meet earlier in the day, let's say 10am then drive to Idaho city or something grab some lunch, talk about how are cars are the greatest things in the world when they're not broken, maybe photoshoot and then head back.
