This is a private server for fellow Texers(and their friends) to enjoy the awesomeness of Minecraft together. If you would like to join our server and help us build some awesome stuff, PM "Sump" your username so he can set you up with server permission. The server login is mcvwvortex.servegame.com.

    Rules:
    -Don't be a dick
-Respect other players builds... NO GRIEFING.
-No retard towers (one block wide towers to the sky)
-If you chop down a tree, you must harvest the entire tree
-No excessive use of Lava or water or animal farms (causes lag).

As of 12/14 We are running a hardcore 'deathban' server with 12 hour respawn delay and no mods. You can see more details here.

Help Donate to the server fund. Sump uses beer, time, electricity, and internet to fund the server. Even if it's just $5 it helps the cause.

Hmm I might have to check this out at some point. Is there anything to do other then just building?

its basically a sandbox game with a few rules. Its mostly about resource collection, exploration, and building. There are enemies and non-enemy creatures but they are disabled on the server right now. If you LOVE playing with legos, and you like grinding for resources; prepare to have no life!

unable to connect to the server right now

Yeah, I was fiddling around yesterday, and used a custom map creator, to make what is a pretty cool map. We are all set now though, so go nuts.

My House! Entrance is over to the right.

Looking at it now, I think I need to extend it over to the right more. And I plan to have a waterfall under the porch as soon as we figure that out.

I think, if you're looking at the compass, I'm East of the Castle.

Good news. I have just realized that I have god powers. So next time we are in a server, I can give you water. That's how I got the waterfall started over on Wilders cave. I can also do other handy things like teleport players to other player locations. It's pretty cool.

Yeah the bucket method wasn't working, I want it flowing where the trees are over on the right, under the porch closet to us in the picture and to the ocean.

Hmmmm .... interested. What kind of system is needed to run this? Can it be played on something as simple as a netbook? I don't really feel like sitting upstairs in the office while my wife and kid are downstairs.
Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?

go to minecraft.net and see how it handles the (free)browser version. If it works out well, buy the alpha version and you can play it in the browser or download the .exe.

this may be a stupid question, but if pay the ~$13 for the game, and play it, will i still be able to do this? or they are completely different? and can this game run with other programs running like firefox and outlook and not crash/change programs/freeze like other games?
    welcome to the layer cake

You have to pay the $13 to be able to login this server. You'll also be able to log in other servers, or play single player games (With Monsters and Health Systems). I've had no problem running other programs in the background, Itunes, Chrome etc.

I currently run the server, play in the server, have firefox open, and Winamp playing music.(Although I am on a 4 core processor).

It runs, but fairly poorly on a netbook. Definitely doesn't need much horsepower.

    Well...7 hours later...jesus.

Discovering a game on your day off is the worst thing that can ever happen...EVER.

PS: My humble abode is located on the coast just outside of town...has a little bridge and a lot o' trees.

EDIT: I went exploring for a quick moment only to realize that the gigantic portion of the map we've been using is...maybe 5% of the entire map. It's f-ing monstrous. The beauty of the simplicity is that it'll run on most computers.

A minimap would be nice, so I would know where the heck I am in relation to everyone else.

And some jerk took my name! Probably someone in Germany.

Apparently we can map out our world using Cartographer. But that needs to be done server side with the files.

Ahahaa... that is one sweet pana shot.

I'll look into cartographer, and some kind of minimap for reference.

So I pulled up the game briefly on my work machine. Runs great, but I had to stop playing as I could see myself wasting hours upon hours of my day. Dug out a sweet cave though.

Maybe I'll pick it up, though I don't have any good way to play it at home as I don't have a decent laptop at the moment. I don't often drag home my company laptop because I refuse to work from home.

For $13 bucks I may not be able to pass it up.

I wanted to keep going to the right, to get the beach houses but it turned night time, and then I got slammed with work.

Bugs will hopefully be fixed soon... Update from Notch(The creator). Sounds like he's a busy guy these days.

It’s a good thing I didn’t know how much work setting up a company would be when I started doing it..

The status right now is that we’re up to four people confirmed, and we’re talking to several people. We almost got an office, but they wanted us to sign up for three years, which seems a bit like a gamble for a startup. So we’re still looking for an office.

I know some people feel let down by the lack of updates. I’m sorry.

But I am working. Hard. =)
