A minimap would be nice, so I would know where the heck I am in relation to everyone else.

And some jerk took my name! Probably someone in Germany.

Apparently we can map out our world using Cartographer. But that needs to be done server side with the files.

Well I logged in this morning, and started to level out a piece of land for my starter cottage.

Ahahaa... that is one sweet pana shot.

I'll look into cartographer, and some kind of minimap for reference.

So I pulled up the game briefly on my work machine. Runs great, but I had to stop playing as I could see myself wasting hours upon hours of my day. Dug out a sweet cave though.

Maybe I'll pick it up, though I don't have any good way to play it at home as I don't have a decent laptop at the moment. I don't often drag home my company laptop because I refuse to work from home.

For $13 bucks I may not be able to pass it up.
Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?

Haha, nice. I didn't even think to remove them from the chest after we damn near crashed the server.

I wanted to keep going to the right, to get the beach houses but it turned night time, and then I got slammed with work.

Bugs will hopefully be fixed soon... Update from Notch(The creator). Sounds like he's a busy guy these days.

All this non-development work will result in a much nicer working environment, with talented people helping out with development, an actual office, and a much better way to deal with support issues, bug reports and feature requests.

It’s a good thing I didn’t know how much work setting up a company would be when I started doing it..

The status right now is that we’re up to four people confirmed, and we’re talking to several people. We almost got an office, but they wanted us to sign up for three years, which seems a bit like a gamble for a startup. So we’re still looking for an office.

I know some people feel let down by the lack of updates. I’m sorry.

But I am working. Hard. =)

Now that's cool. Boats are a no no though... for now at least.

We can use them and see how it goes. From what I've read they can cause server problems when there are numerous players in the server. Causing lag, and in some cases a crash of the server.

Boat problems seem to be hit and miss. However minecraft carts cause major problems. Wilder built one last night, and as soon as he got in it I got a laundry list of errors in the server log, and the server nearly crashed, kicking everyone but myself.

It's cool we can do without, they'll get it fixed soon.

We do need some kind of road system though.

Yeah we really do, the lack of minecarts really sucks. Hopefully it does get fixed soon. The waterslide works, but it's obviously mostly a downhill only type of transport. I'll see if I can dig up any other ingenious ideas.

Well I've embarked on a journey to explore our world. I've been walking for 3(in game) days, and have found some insanely cool places.

How does this game work, is it browser based? Will it run on a Mac? I don't see any specs on the website.

Very flexible game. You can play it in your browser at Mincraft.net, or you can download the .exe.

They have an .exe for both windows, Mac, and I believe Linux.
