Details are starting to emerge on the Minecraft Wiki about the newest dimension in Minecraft - The Ender
. Apparently the Endermen aren't from your normal dimension, they come from a far away land that will contain things like Enderdragons
and obsidian obelisks
. The portals to the Ender will be found in strongholds apparently, and from some of the screens, it looks like you'll need to craft Eyes of Ender
to both locate and open these portals. You can check out more details and follow emerging clues here.
I think that is one of the most fascinating and wondrous things about Minecraft, is its simplicity, success, and design model allow Mojang to pretty much freely run with their imaginations and add new dimensions and tweak gameplay to their heart's content. The best part is, there is plenty more to come as well; the sky dimension
is still in the works along with the recently revealed magical crafting tables
. It will be interesting to see if Notch and co keep up this level of feature creep after the game's official release in November, but so far they are not showing any signs of slowing down, and I applaud their efforts. Continually adding new content adds to the whimsy of the world, continually giving players new things to do and new interesting places to discover. I'm honestly still trying to catch up with all of the new features they've been adding though, I haven't even gotten around to making dyes or playing with pistons yet. What do you think? Is Minecraft becoming a mountain of awesome, or are there too many changes with too much new content for you to keep up with?
