The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice.

Soooo good! No comparison to Twilight crap. The first 100 or so pages of the very first books is a bit slow (imo), but after that, it's gets really good. She does a great job of tying all of the stories together.

The Passage (ruled ...1st Book in a trilogy)
The Sookie Stackhouse Series (No heavy "love" themes as one might think)

Ann Rice has a bunch.... actually most of Ann Rice's supernatural stuff is really good (even if its not vampire or werewolf releated)... Like Servant of the Bones < awesome

Reading Let the right one in

It gets more gory and more exciting after a while and I like that the author takes his time developing the characters, relationships and even the notion of being a vampire. Halfway through right now and I'm liking it *for a trendy vampire book*.

The Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K. Hamilton is pretty good reading.

Did you finish it? I liked the differences in the book from the movie. Took me totally by surprise.

I do admit it wasn't great but the movie was just horrible and changed the story totally. Hell House is a much better read by Matheson if I had to choose.

You people are crazy. I Am Legend was an awesome book and a revolutionary story. It essentially laid the groundwork for the zombie stories of the past 60+ years. I loved the ending, too.

    AUthor, Jim Butcher...
There's 13 of them out now.. first one in series is "Storm Front" not specifically about vamps and were's but they are main players.. Harry Dresden is a wizard/ P.I. in Chicago.. but it builds quickly to a broader plot line. Book 14 is out this November... it's one of the rare times I pre-order a book.. Jim Butcher is an amazing author.

    read on!

    Monster Hunter International series.

Nothing but monsters, guns, gore, and more gore. I have never had as much fun reading a book as I have had reading these books.

The first three novels in one: http://www.amazon.com/The-Monster-Hu...r+hunter+books

    These.

Also, the Noble Dead books were pretty good, starting with Dhampir. Authors are Hendee or some such, can't remember.

(Fake) Vampire Hunter tries to call it quits, settles in a town that has real vampires. Real vampires try to take her out before the legendary hunter takes them out.
