What about these universal lines that ECS sells?
the link shows for 24v MK4, but then under application it lists, "all".
I'm going to do that today and see what we can get.
I don't trust myself with flaring the lines....so maybe I can get the right line and fittings and have a shop flare em for me? Then reinstall and we should be good?
I still need to pull off one of the lines from the rear calipers bc that fitting I believe will be different.
I know I need to run a prop valve outback...does anyone know what size fittings will work?
Same as MC?
bump for more info!
Anyway, went to my local meet last night and a buddy of mine may be coming by this weekend to help me route, bend, and run new brake lines.
Another buddy of mine was good enough to hook me up with the bender, cutting tool i believe and something else.
If all goes well, I should have brakes hooked up at the very least.
I'm also picking up a rear prop valve plus bracket locally tomorrow.
I may paint the MC bc it looks pretty rusty.
Going to really try and get the tranny painted at the very least.
I cleaned the old heat shield yesterday as it was pretty grimy.
It's in good shape though so it will be going back on at some point.
oh, and I also got a lead on an Eibach flat bar.

Not many updates to share here.
Work has been kicking my ass.
Got the tranny degreased, primed, painted and cleared.
does anyone know where to get a new cover for the gears? that black cover on the top?
looks like there is a seal that goes with it too. mine is rusted and old.
The cover is 02a 301 211a Dealer price is $65 for it. Dealer and used are the only options. It is the cover for just 5th gear.
The gasket is 02a 301 215a Dealer price is $38 There are a few aftermarket seals available as well, but most of the time are special order.
I have good used ones if you need them. I reuse the cover seals on my own trans if they are in good shape, as they rarely leak, but I replace them anytime I rebuild someone else trans, but keep the good ones as back ups since they are so over priced. Pm me if you need a set.
19x8.5 5x112 BBS LM's for sale. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...&highlight=bbs
AJ I used Rustoleum hi heat silver enamel with clear
Yeah Evan, much farther behind than you, but moving nonetheless.
Also it seems I can get a used/recon 5th gear cover from here, as well as the seal.
I wonder if the seal is new? should be, I would hope.
After shipping and tax its like $56 to my door...or $34 for just the seal.

Not much in terms of an update, but still, work done.
Just took advantage of a nice day
My boy Russ, bendin brake lines.
Was able to finagle and get the rear prop valve in and mostly plumbed.
Paint some more ****
Trans ****. The seal was in good shape, cover had some surface rust. But its clean now.
This thing smells
So yeah, that's where I stand.
Brakes are basically 65% complete. Once we finish flaring 2 more lines up front, finish plumbing the rear, bleed and test (although, not a real test bc motor isn't in) it will be a milestone met.
I want to drop the subframe this week or next so I can throw some paint on it.
Not too far from getting the motor in at this point, but def some time
