I agree. The trailer was meh to me as well. Bane just isn't working for me. Approaching Schumacher Batman levels of cheese.

That doesn't mean I won't be there opening night at the IMAX theater, however. The first two movies guaranteed I'd be plopping down my $20.

    Such drama...

Can someone tell me the last time Nolan wrote or directed a bad movie?

    No.

There are plenty of valid criticisms that can be made about the trailer or about Nolan's Batman universe in general, but the new Bane approaching Schumacher levels of atrociousness? No, I'm sorry, not even close.

I heard that the studio is trying to make Nolan change Bane's voice because they say that it is hard to understand.

Nolan is wrong here. Basically the one thing people consistently complained about in the first 2 movies was Bale's voice when in Batman form. We don't need another character we can't understand.

I always scratched my head on this. I thought the idea of Batman was for him to be an "average Joe" (so to speak) doing good vs. being a completely fictional character like Spiderman or Superman. With that said, if I dressed up in a costume and had a conversation with people who knew me, they would recognize my voice. So I like it and it makes sense to me.

Yes! Not that I can't understand his Batman voice, but damn it was SO obnoxious!

This never bothered me at all. I guess I don't understand the years of fussing over Bale's Batman voice.

His voice was utterly perfect in Batman Begins. There is a quick shot of Bale putting a microphone/speaker inside the bat mask at the beginning of the movie and I think the slight amplification of menace and growl was perfect. I was not bothered enough by the voice in TDK to write about it on blogs until my fingers bled, but it was a bit over the top.

It was a necessarily plot device. It just sounded really, really stupid and got worse in TDK.

I'm glad I'm not crazy then - I thought there was something wrong with my sound system because I couldn't understand what he was saying through the movie

But it's also no different than Superman for example - his entire "disguise" is a pair of glasses. You mean to tell me that people who work with Clark Kent can't tell that he's Superman without his glasses on? That was always one of the big jokes with that character

I will still watch this movie and probably love the **** out of it but that football stadium scene is up there with Nick Cage jumping an old mustang off an ambulance over 35 cars on a bridge. I understand it is a fictional movie that just looks lame and fake as **** to me.

I agree. I'm sure I'll love the movie, but the football scene is a little cheesy.

i could understand bane's voice just fine, but then again, i saw the prologue in the imax theater and not on a youtube video of the trailer.

i also don't understand the correlation of the pearl necklace.

Who knows? Perhaps nothing. As a "scratching the surface" Batman comic fan, there's often an undercurrent of "I know who you are" between Selena/Bruce. Maybe this version will show her infiltration into Bruce Wayne's trust/heart and he passes on his mother's necklace, which would be great fuel to piss him off once he knows she's f'n him over for her own agenda.

im pretty sure the movie is very close to being finished so i doubt they pull bale now.

Is this Bale's last movie as batman - probably because i think this is nolan's last batman film.
