Thread: my project jetta.

  1. 11-03-2010 02:30 PM #1
well i might as well throw my hat in the project car ring and show people what im working on. the time frame for this car is hopefully at least running for h20 2011. this is my first build, so it will take some time and i will update this thread whenever i add something to the car

this is my previous car, which i just traded for a truck and no longer have. it was my first vw and i couldnt help myself but to buy another.

picked this car up out of baltimore. from what i can tell, it started life as a 98 2.0l automatic. PO swapped in a vr6 and took it out leaving all the wiring. pretty clean car, no rust.

interior when i got it. pretty filthy. looking for leathers and a black carpet and headliner for it.

stripped the interior and put in a cabby wheel. thats how it sits now. im waiting on a painter to pick it up and spray it.

    some future plans..

i love this color. i think it would look great with these wheels, if the faces were sprayed black and i had vento bumpers and fender flares, which is the direction i wanna go.

went and picked up some goodies today. new seats, doorcards, carpet, tails, and carpet for the deck behind rear seats. im not sure if im going to replace the carpet under rear window as i like the two tone. and not much is bolted in yet due to my forgetting the nuts and bolts in my other tool bag. but you get the idea. and i scored pretty good got all the stuff for $300 and the seats are heated. and the dude was a great guy if anyone needs any 2.0 jetta trek parts he has a pretty decent looking car.

and i noticed, this thing when i was putting them in. im sure its not factory just on a factory tag. just idk why someone would do that.

wanted to get peoples thoughts on this color, what do you guys think

  11. 01-12-2011 12:15 AM #11
I like it, but i think it would only look good on completely shaved Mk3.

I wouldnt run those. Talk about blinding on-coming traffic.

  13. 01-12-2011 11:43 AM #13
I checked and the cutoff isn't that bad . If it's too blinding I'll just run ecodes.

not much of an update but, i ordered an oem hood ( still on sale but now $85), a glx driver fender and a vento grill. also i have a painter on board and should be ready for the motor in the coming month. grill wont be here for 20 days tho.

  15. 01-30-2011 02:10 AM #15
Got my hood and fender. Also picked up a set of amg staggered 17's. And the painter should be stopping by this week to prep the car.

Thanks this is my first car build. But I got alot of good guys around to help me.

  19. 02-06-2011 01:00 AM #19
not too much going on. ordered hood struts, still waiting on vento grill. bought new amg wheels, that i plan on having powdercoated satin black shortly. and got a new head unit for the car, even tho its a little bulky. i ditched the puffy leather door cards for some black cloth, got some wolsfburg edition door lock pins. as well as a black center console. sorry for lack of pics, just been real busy and too cold to go to the shop that has no heat (around 10 before windchill most days). decided to have the engine sent out for hot tanking, honing and new rings and rods, so ill be a little safer. im most likely going to grab a set of podi gauges when the car is a little more complete, does anyone know where i can pick up some vent pod gauges.

picked up yet another set of leathers, these are really clean, grabbed a black dash that will be going in this weekend. tried to redo the headliner but failed miserably so no i need a new one. also if you have a black one for sale let me know. replaced the rear parcel shelf with a black unit and all the interior trim pieces in black. managed to get my vento grill finally. progress is slow, but at least there is progress. its already come a long way in a short period of time, the old interior was trashed.
