Thread: Replacement front leather seats for 1999 Passat

    1. 11-04-2010 04:44 PM #1
Can someone confirm for me if any other year seats will work in a 1999 Passat GLS? The leather on the current seats is damaged beyond repair and I've seen a couple good deals on Ebay for early 2000's replacement seats. The current seats are heated with SRS side impact airbags.

      Thanks!
      Daniel

any seats from a 98-2001 (only the b5 2001 not b5.5) should bolt right in with the proper airbag connection. seats from 2001.5-2005 will also bolt in, but you will have to splice in the airbag connection to avoid the airbag light coming on and more important causing the seat airbags not to go off.

Thanks! What about the hook up for the seat heater. Is that consistent through all B5 models even B5.5 or would it need to be spliced too?

the heat connection and seat belt connection is the same throughout. only the airbag changed. and i don't even see why they did that to be honest. doesn't make sense to me

Is there a DIY on the airbag wiring or will it be evident? Can you possibly buy the new airbag connector so I could just change it out on the seat rather than splicing the car directly to the seat?

      Thanks again!

i know that people have taken the airbag connector off their old b5 seats and put them on the b5.5 seats and had no problems. i personally haven't had to deal with that so i can't say for sure. i know that the yellow plugs are different and some changes have to be made.
