Thread: LEAKED: Next Gen Nissan Versa

    1. 11-08-2010 08:04 AM #1
EDIT: Thanks to DATSUN for posting these:

This looks like what we might actually get as it follows the styling theme of other Nissans

The shots below may actually be only the Chinese Nissan Sunny and not the Versa:

if the price stays the same and the hatch version looks good, i can see the next gen Versa keeping it's crown.

Nissan has revealed they are set to unveil their New Sedan at the China International Automobile Exhibition in December 2010. The New Sedan is based on the company’s versatile ‘V’ platform. Nissan is quick to point out that the car is not a Micra with a boot, but is a three-boxer based on the same platform as the Micra hatchback.

As we reported before The car will get L02B codename Nissan B-segment will be Position the segment that nissan did have. The car will be Bcar and to hit China (2011),India(Q3 of 2011),Asean (2011) and the car also be a replacement of Nissan Versa Sedan in 2012.

The sedan and Elantra seem to share similarities. Are those Infiniti gauges inside?

Which crown? It's exceptionally roomy, but dead to drive and just average in most other ways. The segment is evolving rapidly, and if I had to hand a crown to any B-segment car in the US right now it'd be the Fiesta or Fit.

Pretty obvious it was a reference to the B-segment sales crown.

Looks better than the current dump of a sedan which says little. Can't say any sedan in the class looks much better. Definetely see a little of the new Infiniti design language in it, which does give it a current Elantra look because the new M has an Elantra-esque profile. Still looks like it's going for the value approach though, which worked well for them so far.

even i admit that the versa is not the most appealing small car, but for the money it offers buyers quite a lot of car....this is why i said the next gen will keep it's crown if Nissan follows the same formula but makes it look better. And from these pictures, it looks much better.

That's a pretty clear crown for those who asked.

I know the Versa is not a CL darling, but in its segment it has some advantages over the others. It's easily the roomiest and while everyone is stock with a 1.5 4 cylinder engine the versa offers a 1.8 that's more powerful than most and when equipped with a CVT transmission is very smooth and efficient.

I don't know what the interior designers were thinking but it's awful to say the least.

That's happened just within the last couple months. I think it's because Chevy dealers are running out of cheap Cobalts, and there are no discounts on the Cruze. Before, a Cobalt LS was about the same price as an Aveo after discounts.

Either that, or GM has been filling a huge Aveo fleet order for two months...

As for this new Versa...Let's wait to see US-spec. This seems to be Chinese-spec, which could be quite different. It's not even clear to me whether Nissan will split their US subcompacts into cheap (Micra) and upscale (Versa) or if the Versa will continue with a one-size-fits-all approach.

I came in here not caring but willing to listen.

I still don't care. It's a MEH car that will be revised to have more MEH.

Looks like another yawn fest, sadly.

The current car looks and is sized ok, but what a snoozer. Add the Juke's 1.6T and 6MT, sporty suspension, and 16" alloys, and it'd be a blast for ~$18k.

Fleet sales on the Aveo have been pretty high of late as Chevrolet clears out the old one to make way for the new one. Of course, the same is true for the Versa.

That said, the Versa is a solid small car choice, one of the best entries on the market. It's not remotely sporty to drive, so it often gets overlooked by enthusiasts, but it's solid, comfortable, and drives like a larger vehicle. Hopefully, the new one will continue the trend.

When you step back and realize this car offers nothing more than honest cheap transportation, it's a decent little car. I've rented them 3 times now and yes they're boring, but they get you there in reasonable comfort.
