Aloha! Moving to Oahu (North Shore) Nov 13th...

Just wanted to say what's up to everyone as I will be moving to the North Shore area this coming Saturday Nov. 13th.

Trying to gauge a feel to see if there are any GTG's or V.A.G. car shows on the island. I'm moving from Philadelphia, so this will be a big change for me and looking to meet some cool people who share some common interests. Also I have VAG COM if anyone needs some scans done or some diagnostic work done. I worked for a performance shop called Schimmel Performance so I have many years expierence with our cars.

On a side note, I'm not sure if I am going to have one of my cars shipped here yet, so in the mean time if anyone knows of any cars (prefer VW/Audi) on the cheaper side please let me know or keep an eye out. Also I will be looking for a job as well, my backgrounds include VW/Audi performance work, Finance for large corporations and have been skateboarding for the last 15 yrs. Open to just about anything that may intrigue me.

check the oahu craigslist, ive seen a few decent cars for decent prices lately. GTGs friday nights and eurosunday cruise every fourth sunday of the month. the GTGs are hit and miss depeding on the weather plus its holiday time but theres always something nice to look at and all of the dubbers here are real chill (never seen any drama unlike some of the jdm crews i've been around). considering your skillset you're bound to make friends quick

oh man you're in for a big change, hope you been here before and at least got a sample of island life. main thing you have respect for the people and the land and you should get by fine.

check out the guys at STS, they are located in the campbell industrial park in Kapolei on the westside of the island. Smitty and Chad are both really cool guys and they are kinda the only shop doing peformance VW/euro stuff right now. Tom at TAI VW/Audi has done some big things over there too, but from what i hear he's kinda weening off the performance side and just sticking to maintenance/repair work. i don't think any of those guys are looking for employee's right now but they are the staples of the vw community on o'ahu, so worth getting to know

Yeah definetly check out STS I know Chad has a vew cars for sale now. One is a silver Golf with suede headliner, and the other is a Jetta. I can't recall what he is asking for them, but they were a good price from what I can remember

Welcome. There is a small scene. Mainly fairweather cars like back in the NE. Few of us daily though. Ship your car. You won't find what you want here.

your just in time for the winter swells to come and you living on NS expect a lot of traffic especially when there are surf meets!! Just get a cruiser bike like everyone else there!! ohh the roads there is pretty harsh just went recently to surf!! other then that welcome to the islands hope to see you around

Got here Sat night fellows, our place is right at Pipeline. Most intense waves I have ever scene. Prob take sometime to settle in, rode TheBus for the first time today into Mililani. I have seen a few Audi's driving around, but mostly jacked up Toyota pickups!

I just moved 3 weeks ago to Maui from Baltimore MD, it is a huge change and I can say that what everyone is saying is spot on. If you want a good example of a nice old VW you're going to have to ship it. I can't speak for Oahu obviously, but on Maui the best we could find was a 94 Jetta 2.0 that has some questionable issues. I've seen about 4 Rabbits running around including a Caddy and Jetta Coupe, both diesels, and neither for sale. Also found a late model Rabbit Gti lost and abandoned in 5 foot weeds with exposed engine internals. Broke my heart to see it honestly. We've got my 82 Caddy Tdi back in MD and my wife's 92 Cabby that we're going to ship as soon as we get full time jobs and save some cash. Either way though, you're going to love it out here. Aloha man! And your tex name looks so familiar to me. I dunno, we both joined here around the same time so maybe I've just seen your lots of your posts for the past 8 years. I used to work @ NGP a few years ago as well so maybe that's it. Hope you enjoy it out here!

I just joined this site yesterday while I was looking for someone who has a vag-com on island.
I was wondering if you are still on island, I'm replacing my nozzles on my MKIV with 357's and need a vag com to adjust a couple settings. Just hoping to catch you or someone else. Thanks
