Have anyone of you guys experince Bulldog Head Tremors. Last night was my 1st time seeing Penny do it. Gotta say it scared the crap out of me. I stayed home with her today. She has done it 3 times today. It happens seems to happen when she lays down. So I went to the store and I got her some calcium and taurine supplements.

Has anyone ever had to deal with this before. I hope the supplements I got her will help. Im also thinking I may want to switch her food.

Hey Brown bag I can say that this never has happened to my Winston. I'm sure you freaked out when it happened. Did you take Penny to the vet?

Is the pup still responsive during these?

If it's idiopathic, I think a trip to your local vet and possibly a neuro specialist might be best.

Could very well be idiopathic tremors. I would get with your vet as there is really no hard consensus on a single cause if this is the case.

I totally agree with Stoich, take her to the vet as soon as you can. I hope everything is fine with her.

Omg I can't believe it just happened to you also, these just happened to Christopher the other night.

It started on Sunday night I thought I saw him shakeing his head slightly while lying on the couch when I walked in the room but it just stoped and I thought I was seeing things. But the next day I was sitting next to him on the couch and he was starting to fall asleep when I saw it start shaking. It scared the crap out of me I jumped up and he just looked at me totally responsive but still doing it. He would listen to commands like sit and come here but still shaking then it would just stop.

So I.called the emergency vet number and I told them his symptoms and they said to taken him in first thing in the morning for blood tests and other things that thy have to rule out but more then likely it was just a common head tremors. These could start as early as 6 months or as late as a couple of years mine is almost 3.

So they tested for everything and found nothing, so we were relieved its nothing serious. Come to find out its not painful or deadly. We started snapping him right out of it with a snack, its crazy as soon as he sees if he stops. We looked up a lot about it and found a lot of YouTube videos of people showing what it looks like, and found out its found with bulldogs, dobermans, labs and slit of small dogs.

The vet said he's heard these leaveing out of no where as quickly as the came. Also they are not seizures just head tremors.

It's sucks seeing them do it, its very scary like its a kid but I am getting better with just ending them as quick as I can for him. He even comes to me when he is doing it because he knows I will make it stop. He only does it at the most 2 times a day. I've noticed its almost always when he is almost sleeping or just real tired. Even giving him a chew toy snaps him right out of it.

I really hope all the tests go good for you, it sounds just like what my topher has. Please let me know man, its like we are both going thru it at the same time.

Also one theory we found that could be a possible link to it starting was Heart worm medicine, which we gave it to him the day before it started galling. That's what some people people feel could trigger it. But its not the first time he ever got heart worm so I wonder what was different this time.

All of Penny's blood work came back Negative, which is good. The vet said she could refer us to a neurologist to run additional testing if we wanted too, for a couple hundred dollars. Since all the testing came back negative the doctor told us at this point, that it could be idiopathic head tremors. Which means that they come on suddenly and there's not always a reason. She also told us that she could prescribe steroids, but doing a little research could do more harm than help if the dog has not been diagnosed with an actual seizure disorder.

Hey guys I'm glad both of your babies are doing fine and all tests came back clean. I was sitting next to Winston last night and just kept looking at him....thinking if it's going to happen to him. The good thing if it does, I know now what it can be. Thank you both for keeping us in the know and educating us about this.
