Thread: Does anyone here have English Bulldogs???

  1. 08-21-2012 03:45 PM #281
Hey fellas, hope everyone is doing well. I haven't been on here in a while. I finally got Winston his pool and he is loving it. Here are some pictures of him and his brother (Nike) playing in the pool. Enjoy!

Here is Poopoo's and Nookie Nook (nicknames) in the pool.

Here they are again. You can see Nookie Nooks trying to escape.

Here is Nookie Nook finally giving up on the escape tactics and looks at me with those adorable eyes asking "Papa, please get me out of here".

I keep hearing about bull dogs and their drool and slobber. Are they really that bad, some folks have me believe that these dogs leave slug tails where ever they go. i.e. Turner & Hooch. (Bull Mastiff).

Awesome pictures guys I wish I had a big pull to take my guy in he would love it but probably also be afraid of the life jacket. I laughed out loud picturing yours jumping in with out it and sinking like a rock little scary but funny.

Also just to answer the question on drool, ours doesn't drool at all except if you have food that he really really wants. If anything he just licks everything like the couch, the bed, pillows, my pants, just anything. Lol

Ok thanks on the drooling/ slobber info. Just looking at the way their jaws hang my mind went to Turner and Hooch, remember that movie? That movie single handidly turned me totally away from Bull Mastiffs.

It was great there was over a hundred dogs there, and about 7 English bulldogs it was funny because to find the bulldogs you just had to find the shade.

Need some help with my bullys food again. Its been over a month now and I made the switch to Blue Buffalo. Before I was giving Penny Royal Canin Bulldog 24. The problem was that she started getting really bad cysts between her toes. Also noticed that she was always itching herself on her back. So the vet recommended that I switch her food. So I did and made the switch to Blue Buffalo Life Protection chicken and rice. She has been doing fine since I made the switch up untill 3 weeks ago. On a sunday she had a upset stomach so I stayed home the next day with her. To make sure she was fine. She did fine that whole week and then sunday she had another upset stomach. So my girlfriend stayed home with her the next day. So now we gone another week and made it pass sunday. Well last night it hit her again with stomach upset. Im not sure why this keeps happening to her. We have our Boston Terrier on the same food and she is completly fine. She has not once had a upset stomach. I dont feed Penny people food at all.

Has anyone ever had to deal with this?

    Is she actually vomiting?

Are there any consistencies you've noticed when this occurs (i.e., shortly after a meal)?

How's her breath smell? Anything odd?

If you're looking for something to try, I'd try another diet. I would go through the previous diets and note the first 7-8 ingredients. Focus on protein sources and try different ingredients. Start keeping notes of diets and symptoms with dates. If you're dealing with an allergy issue, you might as well get a head start.

So yesterday Penny puked up a bunch of grass and what looked like beauty bark. Im guessing that might have something to do with her being sick.

Depending on the type of bark/mulch, it most definitely can cause stomach and digestive issues.

I'd give it another week or so and see if the symptoms clear up.

Going to. Anytime Penny goes over to my girlfriends moms has she loves running around and chewing on plants. Like if she were some goat.

2 Question for bullie owners. Any of your pups have skin mites? Ours has them and the vet has put him on a strong med called ivermectin? I have read some pretty startling things about this med, and was wondering if any of you have experience with this? Alos was told that his tear ducts do not produce enough tears and that he would need to have eye drops twice a day for the rest of his life? Any help would be appreciated.

Aww I'm sorry to hear about the mites, my guy gets allergies in the warm seasons which just is redish bumps on his skin in some areas. And with the eye drops he only had some after his cherry eye surgeries but doesn't need them any more.

    Heartguard is ivermectin.

What's the average weight of your dogs? How are they with kids? Awesome dogs btw. I'm torn between bulldogs and more boxers.

Christopher is 70lbs, and excellent with kids all ages I would trust him with a new born any day. I honestly don't regret ever getting him he is perfect for our house very low key very social doesn't need tons of exercise just a lot of relaxing with him and letting him sleep. Great in the car, doesn't pull on a leash, almost never barks. I will definitely have a bulldog around until my last day here.

I currently have Penny and our Boston Terrier on Blue buffalo. They love it. I use to have Penny on Royal Canin Bulldog 24. She use to itch all the time with that food. Also she was getting cysts between her toes. After making the switch to blue buffalo chicken and rice. She likes it much better. She doesnt get cysts anymore and she doesnt itch anymore.

    chubs looks awesome lol.

btw thanks brownbag. bought some blue buffalo adult healthy weight chicken brown rice. working great so far. even better the peices are smaller an softer than the last food so now my wifes rat terrier that just had some teeth removed is having a easier time eating. we shall see when we fully transition to 100% of this food. but bogart isnt complaining no suprise.

Mine really likes Blue Buffalo or the store brand from Pet Valu. I think it is called Performatrin. I can't remember what we started feeding him with but he was having issues with throwing up/rear end issues until we switched. Both the Blue and Performatrin helped greatly with those issues. The Performatrin also cut down on his rear end room clearing abilities which is also a good thing.
