Thread: Electrical schematics for 2001 Jetta

    1. 11-18-2010 01:23 PM #1
I am having a cranks-but-doesn't-start issue with my 2001 Jetta (1.8T). There is no fuel pump sound when cranking and the tach is stuck on zero. This is leading me to believe that either the crankshaft or camshaft sensor is not working.

Can anyone point me in the direction of where to download the electric schematics for this car? With that knowledge I will be able to troubleshoot this problem a lot better.

So this has never happened to anyone?

Nobody knows where to find online electrical schematics?

you can get it in section 97 of the bentley repair manual. You can find a copy of it online if you search hard enough

The fuel pump relay is operating when ever I toggle the ignition key. I even jumped out the fuel pump relay with no change, the pump does not operate.

$109 for a manual - damn...I don't fix VWs for a living, this is a one time problem. I have a '98 Subaru and I have be able to find all kinds of free down-loadable info for it. I was able to rebuild a 2.5 EJ251 with info found on the internet. I was able to interface a MS EFI controller to the factory connect with info found on the 'net.

Plus the manual is no guarantee that I will fix the car.

I just got VAGCOM lite installed on my laptop - I have not yet scanned the car though.

There is no spark. I am getting 12.9 volts to the violet/black wire. I used a test light between positive of the battery and the black/yellow wire at coil #2 and there was no light when cranking on the engine.

I checked all the fuses at the door with a test light, all good.

I have no idea what a G28 sensor is?

With no schematics I am not able to locate the ECU power relay or how it is wired.

sounds like u dnt have any activity in the ecu check the relay is normaly the number 30 located by the ecu itself and also the g28 sensor is the vehicle speed sensor but this is not the speed sensor for the wheels this is located in the block right behind or by the oil filter is called to RPM sensor too

Thanks for the helpful input. I will check that tonight. The engine speed sensor produces a 3.9 AC volt signal when craning on the engine. This is between the brown and white wires.
