Because I swear I saw a MK6 Jetta last week.

Why didn't they get the Golf front end? I don't get it? The sportwagen got it. I will never really truly understand VW. I mena I get they want the cars to be different, but that front end on the Golfs is so nice.

The Jetta Sportwagen is technically a Golf Variant. That's why it didn't take the MK6 Jetta's body similarities. The only reason the MKIV Jetta wagon looked like a Jetta was because the Jetta was more popular here at the time and chassises were the same. Even ETKA refers to the Sportwagen as a Golf Variant now.

Is it sacrilicious to say I like their looks more than the MK5 Jetta...

and seeing as how this appears to be the only spotted thread going.
I saw a blue Quantum wagon on Lincoln between 12th-13th, looked good with euro head lights and BBS RA's!

the MK6 Jetta is TITS! (bring on the hate ) a MILLION times better than the MK5. It no longer looks like a guppy and corolla mated and then dropped the baby on its head one too many times.
I will say, for those that think VWOA failed on the outside, they failed hard core on the interior. its VERY American and plasticy... and drum brakes on the TOP MODEL SEL...

BUT all in all. its a TON better than that sad excuse for a jetta they called the mk5.

Yeah, mk6 Jettas are so cool they have 2.slow 8 valves and drum brakes available.

The build quality is a joke. Take a look at the underside of the trunk lid for example. Toyota Corolla-esque

Garbage!! Come on VW.............Mopar vans and now this??!

^^^ agreed, the build quailty on the inside is horrendous and cheap, thats what you get for building in america .
but the exterior is soooo much better than the mk5. I would still rather drive a mk6 than be caught dead in a mk5. The pure ugliness of the mk5 totally overpowers any wrong doing in the mk6.

But you cant bash on the 2.0 and the drum brakes. ya its a dog of a motor, BUT it makes it so you can buy a new jetta for 14k. and really, unless you are in a performance car, having drums on the rear is not any worse than having tiny rear discs.

Do the European Jetta 6's have the rubbish interior as well, or just the American spec cars?
More stuff owners here will be looking to ship across the ocean and retrofit...

The drums are "lifetime" wear items, not heavy and actually stop better than any other car in the class.. Wait for the GLI and TDI to come out. they will have independent rear suspensions with disk brakes. and better interior trim and seats.

A very clean MK1 Rabbit on the corner of Westminster Blvd and 104th last night. Looked to be brown, with a roof rack and some sort of multispoke wheel in white. Westy front. Car looked great!
