    Yup, so i got some.
I'm really not sure if they are ABT or Carrello.

    edit: better pics

Really don't matter what brand they are. Anyway, onto some questions:

These are really dirty and look like everything is there.
Visibly, it looks like the black plastic ring around the Cibie lo beam light is broken or worn.

Where can we find replacement lights?

One of the Cibie hi beam housing is loose and moves about, but nothing looks broken.

How can i refresh these properly?

The plan is to resrpay masks in red and maybe HID in a projector behind the low beam.
I want to laminex or "french" the hi beams to yellow.

Teach me about dual round setups, common fixes, replacement parts and the such.

    OG car?

I searched and that's where i found these pics.
but i had trouble finding answers to some of my questions ab the lights themselves.

i had carellos on my mk3 and they did not have the little notch on the outter lamps so they might be ABT...either way, abt and carellos always looked best IMO..

agreed, i like their shape and form the best.

this link shows some replacement cibie lights.
can i possibly find the right ones for mine here?

    http://www.rallylights.com/detail.aspx?ID=350

edit: the above link is hella stuff

    this is cibie:
    http://www.cibieusa.com/cibie_main_frameset.htm

    and they're pretty expensive...

but, which ones are which? idk the sizes i should be looking at.

pretty sure you want to talk to vanaman.
that dude hoards lights like i hoard wheels.

    i second the abts,
but i also would think they would have some sort of tag molded into them to verify it.

Thanks Rob, and yeah, i couldn't really find anywhere on em that had ABT inscribed or whatever.
    Gotta take a better look.
Magellan, what do u mean? lying to myself about what?

Those will look killer on your car dude. If those don't work out or whatever, my buddy has a set of Hellas that he will probably get rid of cheap if they aren't gone by now. When we were noobs we took them off of his car and put e codes on and they may have been sold at a yard sale.

bry, the masks will be red
hi beams will be laminex yellow
the grill with either be a 3 bar badgeless with black slats/red slats

Those are abt duals. If i remember correctly they only had stickers that abt , it wasnt molded into them.
to refinsh them i would sand them down and use a sandable filler primer to smooth them out and then paint them. It prolly wouldnt be a bad idea to reinforce any of the mounting tabs that are still there. They tend to break easily.

as far as lens, thats a crap shoot. Ive heard rumors that some bmw projector low beans will fit them, but ive never seen any proof. as for the high beams, the best bet is to find something the same size and make them work. or you can scour ebay for some replacement lens or buy a parts set.

The hellas/pzwos have the best light output of any of the dual rounds. The hella projector they both use is really nice.

I remember a thread a few years ago about replacement lens. but i cant remember any details anymore.

I think jimmy might have had to source a new lens or something.

Thanks Steve and all for the input

well, is it possible to use hella lenses in these? will they work?

yeah the lenses that are on these are "good", but not in the best shape.
complete with bulbs and all, just dirty and old looking.
ok, so i'll measure to find the size and see what i can source.
i would love to put projectors in low beams.

Like i was saying some of the early 90's bmw's had projector dual rounds in varing sizes. so start doing some research or go raid the junkyard with your tape measure.

The hella projector out of pzwo duals or b3 passat duals might fit im not sure. I can check since i have a set of all 3 in my collection

http://rallylights.com has a bunch of different size lenses in stock, projector and non.

if you could get the aftermarket Hella Black Magic driving lights to fit in there, they'd look cool.

This is an excellent idea. I would be very jealous if you could make it work.

pk - i think the person/website you should look into is daniel stern lighting (http://dsl.torque.net/products/products.html) i'm in the same boat with my votex duals, but i almost cant justify spending as much for the lenses as i did for the headlights. start taking measurements and go from there

alright guys, so it looks like i will need to start measuring and then either sourcing from Daniel Stern or the rally lights site. eBay is another option, but i'll leave that for last.
    thanks Dan, Steve and all.
And yeah Steve, if you could check on your sets real quick, that's cool. appreciate it

    tabs:
i realized one is broke off and has taken a small part of the housing with it.
really sucks bc idk what i could do to fix that without it looking/operating ghetto.

yo PK... sorry for the late chime in on this...
as Steve said, those be ABTs fo' sho'
yes e30 standard lowbeams and projectors fit with a little creativity since the OD is the same as the ABT dual lows...
i'm still hunting for a new high beam (inner)... and may have a spare shroud and black surround piece for the broken one u have around the lowbeam... i don't know if the shroud is a right or left off hand but I'll check when I have an opportunity to visit my other-other garage

i can't wait to have my refreshed ABTs back on along with fresh t-red paint again

    what's good man?
    thanks for your input
do keep me posted on what ya find at the other garage.
i'll keep an eye/ear out for u regarding the hi beam.

and i look forward to the refresh, will be stunning i'm sure, to say the least!
got some other ideas/plans that i'll need to pick ya brain on.
