Alright heres the sob story. I wasn't planning on doing any kind of project until i graduated college. However I learned about 2 months ago life doesn't always go the way you planned.

      One day I had this:

Then I fell asleep on my way to school while driving and ended up with this:

needless to say the frame was severely bent, strut towers cracked in half, and 2 brand new keskins smashed to hell.

So I wanted to do a golf project so I spent a countless amount of time driving hours looking and literally less then a mile from my house, my girlfriends best friends brother has a '97 golf just sitting there in their yard. The brother apparently backed into a tree, the airbags deployed and it has been sitting ever since. The car has may of '05 stickers on it. I got the car for 300 bucks and had it towed home.

light damage from hitting a tree, shouldnt be too hard to fix

got some moss and stuff growing on it

      has all its fogs

      some aftermarket tails

pretty clean interior, except its got some silly purple tint on the windows

      big @ss sub and amp

Okay so heres the plan. I'm gonna swap the: engine, trans, ecu, exhaust/headers, coilovers, starter, airbags, rear bumper, and maybe some other things from my gti to this piece. However I do not have a garage and its gonna be like 30 degrees for the next couple months. This will be a slooooooow process needless to say.

what im driving in the meantime:

I'll try to update and work on this as much as possible. But i go to school full time and work like 5 hours shy of fulltime. So I dont have a lot of free time.

      flame on!

Poll of what color people think ill be painting the car.

      Yellow: 1
      pistachio:1

Wow dude, that totally sucks. That almost happened to me a few times while working midnight - noon. Glad I'm not on that shift anymore. I parked near you at H2O.

yeah it sucks, but Im definitely trying to look at the brighter side of things. for one now my parents are forced to let me do a project.
and i remember you because i liked your wheels

As for an update, I got the whole front end off and drained the coolant. I started to wrestle with the AC lines that go into the radiator but they are a pita so i decided to go inside and play call of duty.

this was my method for getting off the pesky ac lines. I clamped a vise grip to the square piece that the line goes into and used an adjustable on the actual nut. I heated the nut with a propane torch for about a minute and half. Then put a breaker bar on the vise grip and just went to town. It came off pretty easy. I would definitely recommend this procedure.

this is what an air filter looks like when it sits for almost 6 years

finished for the night, need to wait til my bud can get the engine lift.

i never get people who get into a small accident and just let the car "sit"... what the **** is the purpose of that ****? it slowly deteriorates and at the end the owner is forced to sell it to someone for pennies... 4 months later the same person sees the same car riding around the neighborhood looking brand new.

thanks man, the car was beast, and you know what...for some reason I wasn't that upset about the whole situation. after the initial accident was over and i cursed a couple times i realized how lucky i actually was and I moved on fairly quick.
