If you liked the Sword of Truth series give the Wheel of Time a read. Both have their ups and downs, but I ended up reading Wheel of Time more then Sword of Truth.

I liked the Sword of Truth series better, honestly. Wheel of Time is too damn long! You know when the author dies before the series is finished, it's too damn long!

If you like Ambrose, and military history, you need to read some Max Hastings. An amazing writer, I'm currently reading Retribution and have a hard time putting it down. He has a flair that most others of his ilk are missing.

As far as "all time" that's a difficult choice...I liked 'Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing' and all of the 'Rat's of Nimh' books when I was young, and while not a book I lived for the Calvin and Hobbes and Bloom County cartoons in the paper, but I just read 'A Dog's Purpose' by W. Bruce Cameron the other day (in fact I just finished 'A Dog's Journey' as well) and I must say that it was splendid. I highly recommend Purpose to anyone that likes dogs, it's a great read. Journey is as well, but it picks up where Purpose leaves and as such is a sequel...I enjoyed it and it is well written, but doesn't punch as hard as Purpose.

I've read Night by Elie Wiesel a few times too and sob my way through it every time. It's not happy content, but it's real.

I've read a lot of good stuff over the years. I hated most of the books you guys are listing as your favorites; probably because I was REQUIRED to read them, and then over analyze them and get corrected on my interpretation. F you, teacher, you asked me to tell me what it means to me, don't correct me!

I devoured the Wheel of Time books back in college, ditto Dune and Tolkien's work, and loved them for their depth.

I tore through David Weber's Honor Harrington books, enjoyed them immensely.

Honestly, my absolute favorite book ever must be David Eddings' Redemption of Althalus. I've read it so many times that the hardcovers are falling off.
