    New info from Kotaku:

"By using Kinect for Xbox 360, racing fans can now use head tracking to peer into a corner or their voice to control the game menus and interface," read one. "For more casual players you can enjoy sitting or standing controller free and racing alongside your friends, simply by holding your hands at 10 and 2."

For more serious drivers, the survey claimed Forza 4 would be the "best looking game of the year with graphic fidelity 10 times better than the previous version, including new lighting and shading models." A new career mode involves "an automotive world tour," promising to "increase the variety of challenges and events you participate in." A new no-assist expert mode was also mentioned, as well as more than 500 cars from 80 different manufacturers.

Kinect would also be used to navigate a virtual showroom and learn about the features of the cars in it, with narration provided by Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson. "Each car will be like its own mini level and after your tour, you can take it out on the track."

The survey, in what appeared to sound out what people might want from a Forza 5, also asked respondents to rate their interest in an open-world Forza Motorsport game, which allows drivers to go anywhere on the open road, as opposed to closed-circuit racing.

Sounds good. Not interested in the kinect side of things except if JC talking over it is done well. I like how they said an all expert mode with no assists at all. There's apparently a very minimal driving assist in FM3

I can't wait for a new engaging racing game with actual replay value, lots of events, and customization options.

This game will hopefully make me forget about GT5.

Same here, but I hope they upgrade the physics in FM4. One of the few things I feel GT5 did right was the physics. If you could combine the customization and damaging model of FM and GT5 physics and graphics, you would have a great racing game.

One thing I would really like to see is more tracks like Fujimi Kaido, I love this track.

    Leaked gameplay vid:

Get it while you can, will likely be removed.

    Details:

    Active aero
New manufacturers (Suzuki, Mercury, Asklon--aka HALO WARTHOG!)
    5 new track environments
"Hollywood" style effects (hopefully you can turn this crap off)
Kinect head tracking (look into corners)
    October 2011 release date

    and...

    Motherf**kin' standard McLaren F1, finally!

    looks incredible

as long as the kinect stuff and "hollywood" effects are optional and don't take away from the core game, this looks like it will definitively knock gran turismo down to a tier 2 racing sim....although i would personally argue that already happened with forza 2/3.

    can't wait for this

I'm going to echo the sentiments of others in this thread and hope that they have more everyday cars as opposed to exotic supercars.

It could be the crap video quality, but the gameplay graphics looked really similar to the last game. Not a biggie, IMO.

Just wish they would do something about those replay angles. Give me some TV-style!

And I also hope they don't drop any cars from 3 -> 4. Add cars, hell yeah.

And I think I might buy Kinect just for the head-tracking into corners alone!

same here... "air fists" driving is totally retard to me. But head-tracking + steering wheel should be fun...

i think what they mean by "Hollywood effects" is probably top notch stuff, not overly dramatic sounds. Like the fire shooting out of the 458, and different lighting and sounds. more upscale visuals from big budget hollywood standpoint.

the video is only in 360, no HD avail, but i can't wait for October.

My buddy that built/owns the below setup is hoping the Kinect integration will work with a multimontor setup. Can you imagine just how far behind you you'd be able to see on the side monitors?

I'd be down for an open world style Forza. If you could rip around streets and drive to events, a la NFS Underground2, I'd be thrilled. Especially with other drivers around. It would be like Test Drive Unlimited, but with better physics and graphics.

finally, active aero and exhaust flames. hopefully the flames aren't over the top and annoying, like having a stock toyota yaris burping flames on every downshift.

did it mention anything about dynamic time too? like the ability to run a full 24 hour race at le mans? or a compressed race with accelerated time?

Nothing about time of day or weather yet.

We'll get a big blowout at E3, though!

  19. 04-18-2011 10:31 PM #54
The weather thing is make or break, to me.

I loved that about GT5. 24 racers online in an endurance race with dynamic weather and time of day? YES PLEASE.
Attention! I shoot basketball from the front row. I spend hundreds of dollars for expensive tickets. I smuggle in long, expensive cameras and lenses, and security doesn't even bat an eye. That's right. I'm special. All because I want to sell you a 50mm 1.8 lens so you can be just as cool. Have a good day.

Not having weather & time effects would be a let-down...but only a minor one compared to the many, many ways GT5 let me down.

I can't wait for this game to come out.

Improved graphics and effects are pretty fancy but it will need weather and time lapse to be a big seller.

Dirt 3 is probably going to be more for me.

Turn 10 lost me as a customer when they kept screwing everyone with the DLC for Forza3

I think more than anything they need to attack GT5 via marketing...Forza has never done a good job with their advertising IMO. Compare it to how many TV spots ran for GT5 I know a lot of people who love GT and have never even tried, or even heard of, Forza.

anyone know where i can find the leaked gameplay videos? both of the above have been taken down

i really hope turn 10 realized how big of a flop matchmaking is in a racing game. hope they go back to how MP was in forza 2!

either way, ill surely be preordering.

especially considering how many race series/cars have GT sponsorship, and weren't even included in that game.

this question may be too soon....and word on FM4 multiplayer...basically any chance it will be like in 2?

career mode in 3 was great, but the multiplayer killed it for me. I didn't like that to even come close to competing, you had to use an AWD car. I had tons of cars in 2 that were of all the drivetrains that were competitive minus the few rocket ship cars that people booted others out of the lobby for using

Where were you for the Vortex series? We had all sorts of fun for over a year racing different classes with a good group of guys.

Public multiplayer was a f'ing joke most of the time (that's not unique to FM3 though). Private racing was where it was at.

Some bits of news are coming out now that E3 is not far off... and all I have to say is WOW

BTW, FM4 info is starting to leak out there (probably purposely to build hype) as we all know FM4 will be shown at E3. The latest... taken from gtplanet..

Based on your player level and the cars in your garage in “Forza Motorsport 3”, gift cars will be automatically added to your “Forza Motorsport 4” garage and you’ll also receive bonus gifts and credits. And for those who spent hours creating intricate layers and liveries in the “Forza Motorsport 3” Livery Editor, you will be able to import those layers, so your time isn’t lost!
Love the fact that painters can port over their work from FM3. Shame I spent more time in FM2 but I do have some stuff to port over

They mentioned a RUF RGT-8. I hope Porsches remained in the game and they didn't go PD route by including RUFs as Porsches. I'll take them.... but I don't want to lose the Porsches!!

I told myself I wouldn't be getting the special edition for this but... if those 5 cars are exclusive to SE/CE owners... I don't care for the Tesla nor the Lexus but the RUF, 65 Mustang and Koenigsegg.... yeah... do want.

New lighting engine looks great. But I have to say I hate the 'better with Kinect' logo on the boxart. ughhh...
Hey MS... how about 'we opened up 3rd party wheel support so now "better with any wheel you wanna use"'

The Top Gear branding on the packaging is intriguing. Also take note of the track on the box art... that's Indy although shown in the F1/road course orientation.

I really really hope that T10/MS can properly market Forza 4...it doesn't matter to me, since I will pre-order it anyway, but I think they have a great opportunity to slap Sony/PD in the face over how pathetic GT5 is.

I can not wait for FM4 and the early news thus far is great.

Now I just need to buy a used MS 360 wheel before it comes out.

F the stupid pre-order car bullcrap. They had better be available post-launch.

I'm sure they will given T10's track record.

Love the idea of data import. I put in a freakin' TON of time into F3, so it'll nice to have a head start on F4.

I love the import feature. A few hundred race hours and 460 cars later, I hope I get some nice goodies!

Really happy about the livery import feature for the artistic folks (which I am not one of ).

Still can't do anything about the looks of it, other than run it into a wall.

Can't wait. After getting a PS3 and GT5, and being disgusted by how crappy and anti-fun it is, I went back to Forza 3. My only gripes with Forza are that I want more cars, that XBoxLive sucks (I hate paying for online interactions with 12 year old ****-talking brats), the lack of weather, and that while they have downloadable tracks (hello Road America ), the races never actually use them. Beyond that, I love the customization options Forza 3 has. Painting it whatever color you want, building complex car artwork, different wheels... and ohhh my god the fun of engine and drivetrain swaps! I built the Cayman that Porsche won't, and it is goooooood.
