I raced one of your srt replays and it was cool seeing the bullbar in the rear view mirror. I have some faster cars but wanted to get some use from me ignored cars.

Just got the new pack last night and bought the FR-S. I have to say, if it is anywhere near as fun in real life as it is in the game, I'll have to completely change my stance on it. Had so much fun working it to C425 on Nurburgring. I thought it would be boring on the track but damn it was awesome. Super easy to drive, 2 wheeled it over some curbs but overall great. Might grab the ZL1 next.

I can tell you with absolute confidence that it is even more fun in real life. It's a phenomenal car

For what it's worth, the BOSS and the ZL1 drive like wallowing tanks relative to the FR-S in the game. I have a feeling T10 really and truly f*cked up on those ones.

I've said it before too but I absolutely love the FR-S. I have one in C425 trim and on Friday went over to a buddy's place and had an epic series of B500 FR-S vs new Genesis races.

I haven't driven the Mustang outside of lazily working through the current stock rival event, but I feel it drives nicer than the '10 Shelby GT500. The ZL1 was a little underwhelming, I expected a tight, taught baby-ZR1 and got a pretty looking, sloppy fat bastard. That said I still love throwing it between all the Mustangs on the Sebring track day event. Wish it was on the full course like the R18 event a few months ago.

Still haven't got around to buying the Sauber, speaking of it I still need to get me a 787B as well.

I did one run at the rival drift event attempting to put down the lowest score I could. I think I did pretty good with a stock Lincoln putting in a 29. By the end I had to hit walls on purpose to break the points from adding up from the car sliding out.

I'm somewhere around 55k points with an almost stock Country Squire. So much damn fun.

Damn, I was hoping the new domestic cars would be fun. The 95 Cobra R is probably my absolute favorite American car I own in the game, it kills in B and A class.

Last thing I need is BRZ/FR-S lust!

I was racing Mercs around the Saloon rival event last night trying to improve my time. Was trying my hardest to make a '72 300 SEL 6.3 competitive but my lack of tuning knowledge (and not the best platform to choose anyway) only let me get down to a 1:24.6xx.

Built up a C32 sedan afterwards and turned out some quicker laps without tuning. Had the car down to low 1:22's dirty, had an excellent lap going where I would have broken into the 1:21's and then missed a shift in the last bend, struggled to correct and geared up twice by accident killing my speed through the turn. Finished the lap with a 1:23.280 and called it a night.

I don't know what the bounty hunter's final lap will be or when he's going to place it (currently low 1:22's), but I'd like to be able to beat it without having to use the 190E and a tune from the storefront. The top 300+ cars on the LB are all 190's though so I guess if I want to win a car I'm just going to have to suck it up and use one of their tunes.

I pulled a 1'21.3xx (I think) with my old M5. I had faster laps but they were dirty or I threw them away with stupid mistakes. Give them (E39 and older) a shot.

Thanks for the suggestion, I haven't tried any of the BMW's yet. I'm going to see how far I can get with the C32 and then build a few M5's and see how it goes. The Quattroporte seemed like a pretty capable platform too, I'll have to try building one from the ground up again to see how far I can get.

This is the most time I've spend on the Alps track since the game came out last year.

Your post inspired me to give it a go last night. I used my E63 AMG, came close but I couldn't keep it tidy on turn 1 (sad I know) and it killed me every time. I spent about 15 laps before calling it quits. I have a 190E I will try but like you I didn't want to fold. The C63 AMG would be fun but all it does is roast tires. I'm going to grab a E39 M5 tonight.

I have a passionate dislike for Alps track....

I posted briefly in the pic thread, but I didn't have much luck at all last night on this event. I couldn't really improve on my old Merc time in the C32. I did a few tenths better in an E28 M5 and my top time for the night was in a Subaru S204 at 1:22.360.

The bounty now set his final time at nearly 1:20 dead so there's a lot of time to find if I want to beat it. He extended the deadline to tomorrow morning 7am PST for the prize car. I might try a few other car combinations and another dozen or two laps tonight but I think I'll be conceding defeat before using a 190 tune.

I'm going to see if I can shave a bit more. I won't be disappointed if I can't catch the guy who designed the track.

^^ Yeah, 1:20.259 is the actual time. Your current best is 1:21.605 and knowing your driving, you didn't leave 1.4 seconds on the track.

The last few bounty challenges have definitely stepped up their game. Their [usually last minute] final times are incredibly quick and hard to beat without using a tune from the top tuners and putting in dozens of laps to shave thousandths. I've won very few of them.

Ive submitted to the 190. It really likes that track. I hate using the car that is highest ranking. I have no idea how I'm going to shave 5 sec. I might get half way.

I've used the top tunes for the last few CBH's just to try and be competitive. I too don't like when a single car dominates a track (the 190 here, the Pinto on the last one, etc). I find that the last few have been so competitive that it really comes down to a single best car, whereas the older, slower CBH challenges had a number of cars to achieve similar time results.

Do you know what car the bounty used? I don't track down the Target replay. Just use friend list times . I'd rather the credit go to friends if I submit.

    According to his last post:

Some of you had questions about my lap. I hope I gave you a run for your money. My goal was to have a time in the mid 1:20s. All you guys with sub 1:20.000 time are beasts. I run with a pretty slow rival because ghost cars distract me and I prefer watching the split times.

Thanks fat Burns for the epic tune, I tried a bunch of tunes and that was the best I found. PRH shop had a nice subtle Ringer livery and with Nurburgring's being in the news so much it seemed fitting.

Despite T10TailHappy's libelous statements about me I assure you that it was me and not the AI. Here are some specifics about my lap in case you guys are interested.

    Lap Info

    Time: 1:20.259
    Car: Mercedes-Benz 190E
    Tuner: fat Burns
    Painter: PRH Shop
    Assists
    ABS: OFF
    STM: OFF
    TCS: OFF
    Steering Type: Normal
    Transmission: Manual Clutch
    Controls: Xbox 360 controller Wired

Remember Contest deadline extended to Friday the 17th 8am.
I seldom ever race the actual bounty's ghost, I think the last one I raced directly was Me Monkey 8 Me back on the Among Giants track day event earlier this year. Usually I go after my next friend's time, unless they're already faster than the target time (usually looking at you here, nickthaskater ) in which case I switch to "Near Me" and usually pick the first name that angers me (usually something with Stig in it), haha.

I ran the balls off of my E34 M5 and could only muster a 1'21.153.

I'm proud of it, but obviously not good enough. Oh well.

I can't hang with the Bounty times so I don't even try

How's everyones Affinity levels? Mine hasn't changed much, even if I've added 1-2 levels to a manufacturer I can't seem to un-seat those "favorite" cars.

I've been trying to level up my un-used or new stuff instead - Viper, Fiat, Ascari, Mini, etc.

I'm been using a lot of seldom used brands as well lately so the top of my list remains largely unchanged. A lot of shifting up and down in position but not much new has rocketed to the top.

    1. Ford - 50 - Ford GT
    2. Chevrolet - 22 - C6 Z06
    3. Audi - 18 - #2 R18 TDI
    4. Porsche - 17 - #54 GT3 Cup
    5. BMW - 16 - Z4 '11
    6. Ferrari - 16 - 250 TR
    7. Mazda - 15 - MX-5 Gen 1
    8. Dodge - 15 - Viper '08
    9. Nissan - 15 - #12 GT-R '10
    0. Mercedes - 15 - #4 C-Class

I have a lot of brands in the level 12-15 range that will move around the bottom of the list but I doubt I'll see much major movement from here on in.

I know what you mean about unseating the favourite cars, some of them I spent so much time in rivals in a single car that it'll take hours upon hours of driving a single different car just to knock it off. I've been driving cars other than the C6 Z06 anytime I use a Chevy but it stays firmly in top with a few extra hours of windshield time over the next closest car. I've also got one car on the list that I haven't driven a single minute of (#54 GT3 Cup) but because the previous owner (bought it cheap on the auction house) spent a ton of time driving it it now shows it as my favourite.

Since T10 banned Slave Monkey, is there another tuning calculator to get a car in the ballpark? I am horrible at tuning, and tired of getting totally destroyed in anything other the Le Mans multi-class races.

A company call XCM makes a product that lets you use a G25, G27 and I believe Driving Force GT on the Xbox. I don't really know how it works, I believe all it does is somehow take the steering input of the wheel and mimic the position that an analog controller would be.

There's some info in this thread: http://www.forzaplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1833

They have a very poor website (imo), scroll down to XCM F-1 V.2 : http://xcm.cc/

There's likely multiple videos on youtube for this but I have not looked for myself.

Not much new but the battle for tenth spot in affinity ranking is pretty heated

    1. BMW - 19 - E36 M3
    2. Porsche - 18 - Panamera
    3. Honda - 17 - '97 Civic
    4. Mazda - 17 - Gen.1 RX-7
    5. Volkswagen - 16 - '63 Beetle
    6. Ford - 16 - '65 Mustang
    7. Nissan - 16 - 240SX
    8. Chevrolet - 15 - Nova SS 396
    9. Lotus - 15 - '99 Elise
    0. Toyota - 15 - '03 Celica

Went and picked up a used xbox. I've had the "open tray" error for almost a year. My old one started messing up during game play and I was worried it would mess up my save. After the 4th time screwing up, I spiked the xbox on the ground. Now I'm on my 3rd copy of the game. At least I can change games without beating on it for 15mins. So far it looks like my data is all there.

So did your previous Xbox ruin the disc you had just bought the previous week too?

Yay, on this week's XBL deals the Forza Top Gear pack is 50% off. It's the only one I don't have from the set, for some reason I didn't pick it up when it first came out. First vehicle I'm buying is the Supervan to go smash into some traffic on Revenge of the Giants, and the Hennessey!

  30. 08-21-2012 02:13 PM #3775
I read this morning that September DLC was confirmed, but no hints were dropped. It'll probably be another car pack, which I don't mind at all. I can only wonder what cars will be included in this potential car pack. My guess is with the August DLC we got the Scion FR-S so we might see the Toyota GT86 or Subaru BRZ as 1 of 10. Really have no idea what the others could be. Most cars I guessed would come via DLC already came. The Sauber C9 (which I FINALLY tried out last night = awesome) was a big surprise to me. Did not expect that one. Maybe the Ferrari Berlinita? (sp)

I think the xbox hitting the ground while still spinning did it in on the second one. It was worth it.

Wouldn't be surprised if the viper imsa finally shows up in sept dlc since it debut last weekend.

Ahh VR, yeah, that'll do it.

I'd definitely like the #91 or #93 GTS-R. They didn't do particularly well at Mid-Ohio or at Road America in the ALMS GT class, but it's their first go in a long while with a new car that's heavily restrictored and probably not developing power how they would like (8.4L engine in a class with a 5.5L displacement restriction). The rear spoiler also isn't as high as I think it would need to be to offer more downforce (perhaps that's also a restriction in the GT class).

I don't really know what to expect from the next pack. They've been really good for putting in new / recent cars that people want as well as some old favourites and quirky rides.

The cynical side of me tells me they're going to take a few heavily loved "standard" cars from Gran Turismo 5 and give them the proper interior and audio treatment they deserve, haha.

It's a pity they can't model open-wheel cars with their current system, because I'd like to drive something like a Caterham CSR, a Plymouth Prowler, Ariel Atom, KTM X-Bow, etc etc.

It's been 900 days since I played but I'm back. I hate to admit but I switched over to PS3 a few months before GT5 was released. Terrible decision.... I dont have Live GOLD yet but will next week. Please send me a invite!

In hindsight I wish I hadn't rushed to get a single brand to level 50, and with all the DLC lately I certainly wish I hadn't picked Ford. I want to drive the Boss 302, the Transit, the Raptor for this week's bounty challenge, etc, but it feels like a waste driving Ford since the affinity isn't going to something. Its foolish as I'm not exactly hurting for money, I should just drive the bloody cars but I always pick something else to see that "Level 14 - $75,000 bonus", etc, bonus pop up...
