I like seeing the "Paradise Valley Motor Co" frame, I saw that in the trunk way back when... I think that was custom made, I don't recall ever hearing of such a place. Young Motorcars, 811 N. Scottsdale Rd in Scottsdale, was the local authorized AMG outlet as per AMG advert in an '84 issue of Road&Track I have.
The Phoenix looks brilliant as always.

quick update:
The AMG modified 5.4 litre M117 has returned home! AMG modifications include AMG cams, solid lifter conversion, lightened valve train, port and polish heads, bored cylinders and stroked crank which provide the additional .4 liter displacement. AMG offered this and .2 displacement increases prior to Mercedes introducing the 5.6 litre M117 in 1986. Aside from the AMG cast 3 piece 32 valve heads, this was of biggest performer AMG had to offer thru 1985.

Damn, straight pimpin'![]()
I could just hear the theme music to Miami Vice.
Oh, please arm that thing to the teeth so it won't get stolen. GPS, fuel cut off, battery cut off, heck get a detachable fitting for the steering wheel, chain it down to a freaking tree when park, any extreme measure so some scumbag won't take it.

I'm still on the lookout for a set of AMG Five Spoke Road Wheels aka Pentas in a unique size and offset specific to the W126 Wide Body. 9JX16 et0 and 10JX16 et-12.7.
If anyone has a lead please drop me a PM. Thanks!

Out of curiosity, which yard did you find this thing in? (the original donor, anyway)

Awesome, love the engine. Has it been on an engine dyno by any chance?

like minds...
The WB's stable mate is a genuine AMG modified 1982 500SL with a AMG installed 5 speed manual transmission, one of five known V8 (M117) AMG MT examples in the US. The next step to the SEC WB's mechanical transformation is to pull the SL's box and duplicate the uber rare M117/Getrag bell housing and mate it to the 5.4 with the exact Getrag box AMG offered back in the day.
The AMG modified M117 is another animal all together when mated to MT. It really comes alive.

Did you bring the car to cars and coffee last saturday? They had a MB marquee section. Quite a few W126 bodies, but in pretty worn condition.

Amazing work as always Henric! I second Ivan's (choochoo) suggestion to bring it to Cars and Coffee. You will definitely get lots of attention there!!!![]()

Missed out on the MBCA supported CnC last weekend. Will definitely make it to future events but did attend Supercar Sunday some months ago. Photos were posted here on Vortex by a fellow member.
