      Hi there fellows!

So this morning when I started my car, the battery (alt) light stayed on and I heard a whine coming from the alternator. What do you guys think will be the cause of this? Belt too tight? Alternator bearings?

Under acceleration the battery light is dimmed (barely visible) but when I come to a full stop the light gets bright red.

The alternator was rebuilt probably about 3 year ago... and the belt was replaced 8 months ago.

Any and all help is appreciated!

The belt normally whines when it is loose. Check the tensioner, then proceed to the belt and alternator. my money is on the tensioner.

If the belt is too tight it will squeal.

      But seriously,

"My alternator is making noise and my dash light says that my battery isn't charging"

Use your brain and do what you think you should do. Even better buy a new belt with it and call it maintenance. Checking grounds and adjusting the tensioner before posting helps as well.

Or you can be a man and rebuild that alternator

A loose belt would make a squealing noise. Your symptom sounds like alternator.
Replace the reg, diode trio, flux capacitor, and maybe bearings.
