So my Dad's friend had his 2004 VW Touareg towed into the dealership.
Problem = It wouldn't start.
Look what the hell they found inside! lololol!
Someone has to know what this is!?!
2004 VW Touareg
Original owners
60,000 miles
Always serviced by dealer since day 1.
Price charged by dealer to tear down the motor, clean it up, and put it back together =
$10,000!!!!!!!

wow ........ and people wonder why some folks insist on buying new.

That is sludge. I'd been questioning the dealer's services...Looks like the oil hasnt been changed in about 60k miles

Bet there are cars with 60,000 miles that have NEVER had an oil change that have had less sludge than that.

Looks a lot like this E46 with no oil change for 40k.

Are we sure that every scheduled has been performed on this engine?
#13
holy sludge batman looks like the head gasket failed and then coolant mixed with the oil and made brownies
that or instead of oil the dealership put in some duncan hines
#14
I'm speechless. WTF!! Did the oil get contaminated? That is just bizzare.![]()
#15
That is proof positive that the dealer has not been doing the services. This makes me want to pull the valve cover off of my wifes passat.

Hopefully he has proof of every oil change he paid for. If it's at the proper mileage intervals, lawyer time.

That's worth a call to the regional rep right there in my opinion. If they have all the receipts from the dealership since Day 1, then they need to provide them to VWoA to see what can be done(if anything).
Suffice to say that's not natural.![]()
YIKES.

It will be interesting to see the outcome on this one.
I really wish everyone would update their location in their profile!
Someone buy my car already!!

poor VR6
there is no way it would cost 10k to fix.. even if you bought a new longblock it's not $10k
this is the reason they call them "stealerships"

I predict 20%-50% offered by the regional rep.
Any vagcom'ers know what errors something like this would throw? I mean these cars are awash in sensors now it's strange to think nothing got tripped

Jesus Christ.
What color is the coolant in a VR6 Toe-rag, by the way?
#29
Holy crap. In all my years of dealing with the 1.8t issues, I've never seen anything like that. That is *profound*.
