I'm hoping $45k range full load taxes in, $50k seems too high. If it is $50k i'll walk away. my dealer wanted $500 down and $4500 when I place the order.

We probably won't see pricing and list of standard features until spring time.

I was told that VW Canada would only bring it here if the MSRP was under $40,000, so loaded no options plus taxes and fees plus freight and PDI, so ya close to $45,000 all in.
    Just speculating...

$5000 deposit gets you a seat in line

$5000 seems like a hefty deposit for a car that's not going to arrive for another 14-15 months....is this standard with new releases? Just askin'....

Most places for a special order car costing lots.
Keep in mind this is a probably going to be a limited production run ( 500 cars for Canada ) so the more money down the more serious you are.

I put down a $500 deposit in Calgary, and I'm first in line to order. $5000? You're dreaming!

Same thing for me, the dealership took my $500 deposit, I will get the first 1 to arrive, now I wait and organize what I want for mods. There was a rumour that all the Canadian cars will be Blue I dont know if there is anything substantial to back this up as it was originally thought there would be a choice of 3 colours. Time will tell

I would also like the car to come in around the low 40's thats why I dont think we will get the optioned out model, once again j m 2 c's.

Price is not really a dealbreaker for me, i'll be willing to pay up to 50K including taxes. But, it must be fully loaded. The only option I really dont care is the NAV............

But my guess, the R will be around 41/42 999$ +TX........

The new cheaper NAV is just fine and works great. I hope they put that in as it's only a $890 option and I've done tons of testing with it.

I've got my prediction in with $43000 base price.

hhhmmmm interesting talk here. I think I am going to actually wait until I see one in person to decide on a deposit etc. If there is only one color and a 4 door coming to Canada I will not be interested at all.

Good luck with that. Every dealer in Calgary has at least 3 deposits down. With only 500 coming to Canada, that's roughly 2 per dealership. So you're probably already sh$t out of luck.

I work at the largest VW dealership in Western Canada so chances are we are getting more than 2 Golf Rs. I do agree though - waiting could result in you not getting one!

PM me to inquire about our current Golf R waiting list situation and if you would like to put a deposit down.

I'm going to take a stab and say somewhere between $39-42k for the MSRP.

What do you guys think will be the next step, or steps in the process of bringing the Golf R over to Canada? When will we see it again in the flesh? Any ideas on when pricing and options will be released? So...date wise, we're looking at this time next year for delivery? Or could it be earlier or later than that? Available options/colors guesses?

It's going to be available I think either for US and Canada (Maybe for Mexico too) until the third quarter of 2011.

    Cheers!

I think 40k seems logical. A 4 door GTI with leather and wheels is 34k. It also undercuts the 135i by a few k. I'm guessing the same spec as a loaded GTI but without Nav. 18" wheels. Should translate to approx 125-150 more on a lease payment.

I have contacted VW canada and advise them that no DSG makes it a no sale for me...

If a 4 door DSG was coming, I would put a deposit this week with no issues.

And don't go on about the Manual bla bla bla B.s. I know your feeling but I have a bad knee so I can't drive manual no more...

They should just make it an option and everyone would be happy.

    ah well,

    there's always 2016 !
