I'm thinking about it. I'm not too sure on how they'll look, so I just picked up some cheap ones on ebay and waiting for them to arrive. Hopefully they fit properly.
I'm only thinking about them for the winters right now, but if I like they way they look, I may spend some money on a good set and run them all year round.

I'd recommend a claying to get all the crap off that gets onto the car when it's shipped, including the wheels. Then if you got the DISO (dealer installed swirl option) remove the swirls, polish, then a couple coats of wax. Then re-wax every time it stops feeling smooth as glass. My last waxing lasted about a month and I don't park outside but I wash it regularly. Re-clay in the fall to get all the summer's crap off it -- and then polish/wax again. Proper washing technique etc to avoid reswirling the paint.
Sure you can have your car *look* clean from about 10 feet away with less work, but you can tell the difference up close pretty easily. It's not really as hard as it might sound.
I want my car looking brand new or better.

Is anyone planning on going to MVOC in Moncton? I know its early but it would be nice to see another R. I think the show is on June 9.

Born into a VW family, what can I say?

Anyone in the GTA installed lowering springs on their R and can recommend a shop and about what price the install was? I'm lookin at the H&R Sport Springs which if ordered online will be just under 300.
Also, do you also need to change some other things as well like bolts, bearings etc when you change your springs?

Not sure if this was directed to me... but yea ~300 was the all in price for the H&R springs (incl shipping, tax, duty, brokerage) to my door. ECS Tuning probably works out cheaper via USPS guessing at 295ish and pgperformance just under 300 but at least there's no guesswork since they're in Canada.

Hi Everyone,
I'm finally picking up my CSG R this Monday, and wanted to know if anyone knows of any active GB's for the LED tail-lights.....I know there have been a few, but I've frankly lost touch of which ones are still in-progress if any at all.....Thanks!
#2356
I'm trying to start the 8th GB for these LEDs on mk6 forums since we can't personally start them on this site. I can pm you the link if you want but honestly there's 2 on the list only so far (maybe 3 if someone else I directed to it joins)... maybe I'm not doing a good job promoting it lol.
Which tails are you exactly looking for? If you want the light red ones or the ones with the fogs you actually don't need a GB and it comes in cheaper in fact. If you want the dark red/tinted non-fog ones you either do a GB or buy at full price from a store. If you want details I can post them or just go to mk6 "Private Classifieds - Buy, Sell and Trade > Exterior Parts" and you'll see my post. (Sorry if I'm not suppose to post to other forums but I didn't see anything in this forums' rules about doing so last time I looked)

I bought mine from sk-multishop. the item was brand new with the boxes taped from factory. the seller screwed up initially and sent the outers in tinted version and inners non-tinted. cost me extra $80 in shipping to send the inners back and get the correct ones. I am not a fan of the rear fog, you need the special non-front fog headlight switch for the rear for to work, otherwise your front passenger led turns off with a switch that has front fog light control

Thanks for the info! I did some research and I'm actually looking for the dark red/tinted non-fog ones......I've checked both BKS Tuning and TM Tuning.....BKS wants $659 (not including shipping), while TM Tuning wants $799 (only available in light red). I will take a look at your post and let you know. How much of a savings can we expect with a GB? Thanks again.
#2361
Past GB price was 650 incl adapters and shipping for 20 people. If you go direct with BKS it's 760 adapters and shipping... but then there'll be a little more duty too unless you get lucky. I'm estimating little more than 900 if I were to buy directly from BKS myself as I doubt I'd get lucky enough to pass through customs without getting dinged (never have). If you want to add your name to the GB list pls post in that thread on mk6... I've just placed a temporary placeholder right now (you're #5). Again this is only an interest thread right now till we get enough people.

Is there a detailer in Lower mainland BC offering opti coat 2.0 or optiguard?

Bumping the thread to show off my new shoes. RSe14's. I got a good deal so I jumped on it, the only thing I don't like is all they had in stock was 225's. Would have preferred 235's.
I have pics that I took myself, but here are the ones they took after install:

After much delay, I got my LED tails, VCDS and did the install. I had to clear the codes for the rear lights and the EPC light disappeared on start-up. All is good.

No mention in manual, no button in glove box - do Canadian R's have a TPMS system??
Not that it bothers me much but it just occurred to me and seems rather odd.

Any of the Richmond Hill drivers feel like stopping by to let a jealous Jetta driver see the car, and possibly sit down in the passenger seat?
Figure it's a long shot, but I'd love to see the inside of one, and hear it running. Saving up for my own purchase 2016 (fingers crossed)...

Gah, today!? This is what I get for lurking sporadically. I've only really just starting reading the VW forums over the past year (initially looking for DIY repair tips & guides), not really tuned in yet.
I'll have to remember to come check it out next yearThanks for the recommendation.

Was wondering if the car gets "smoother" wrt. turbo "kick in" after the break in period. I'm at ~3.5K km and noticed when I first had the car at low kms under the break-in period when the turbo kicked in I really felt it; and heard once in a while (even then seemed faint compared to other cars I've heard w/ turbos). Now I don't seem to get that "all of a sudden jolt" when accelerating hard (not complaining but just wondering if this is due to post-break in). Also don't seem to hear the turbo sound hardly. It could all be in my mind or I've learn to shift smoother in this car but just was wondering. This is my first turbo car so this may be a stupid question but thought I'd ask.
