Hey guys just ordered a drift/race set for my vr cabrio, they are going to replace my raceland ultimos because the wheel gap i'm at right now i'm having some tire rubbing issues and think that i can stiffen up the cxracing coils to not rub as much. also i have a question i'm running 17x8 et 30 front et 25 rear with 205/40/17 will the rims clear no problem?

pics of the car wheel gap i would like to remain @.

    that is one sexy cab!

what are the original ET's on the wheels?
I don't think they will be an issue.
The coilover bodies aren't wide or anything so you should be fine.

    Hey man,

I spoke to you at a Turbo Tuesday meet a few weeks back. I was the guy with the red mk3 golf parked beside you. Well i also have a mk3 gti that is riding on cx racing coils.

I am pretty sure you should be able to clear the fronts it may be a bit tight. The rears you wont have a problem with ET25. Im running the drift setup as well with the damper set at 28 clicks in the rear. It doesnt rub with 4 ppl in the car at the height im at.

    Pics of said car...

I've been riding of my CX coils for about a month now and haven't had a lot of time to play with the damping adjustments. I did notice when I hit large bumps going about 65MPH it's really bouncy. Should I stiffen my damping to make it less bouncy? I'm at 6 front and 4 in the rear with no preload on the springs. It's not the drift set up, I have the other one. It rides like butter at lower speeds, just want to keep it smooth at speed. Thanks.

Yes, that bounce sensation you're describing is typically due to under-dampening. Try 15 front and 10 rear and see how you like that.

I know all mk3 and corrado parts work, but will the drift spring rates work on a corrado?
I'm selling my golf, but keeping the suspension. Eventually I'm gonnna put it on the raddo. Any input from you guys?

The higher spring rates will suit the raddo much better than the A3 chassis simply because of size and weight.

You're welcome, bud! On any coilover with adjustable dampening I usually start soft and turn the stiffness up until it has a comfortable ride with no bounciness

    @farkas

I figured that.. But corrados are not much different in weight. Anndd I will be the first person to put them on a corrado. 👍👍

Zombie bump. Just bought mine. FYI, if you live in the middle of nowhere like me, shipping got a little cheaper.

Didn't think so. I'm thinking about just throwing down for a set. I see them on eBay currently for $600, is that the lowest they go for now?

Yeah i seriously think it will be hard for you to find a used set. People who have them seem to love them.

    Yep, I'll be selling mine.

The fronts are brand new, never installed. I installed the rears around 500 miles ago and they are too bouncy for my old ass.

Taking them back off the car on Wednesday and up for sale soon after. They are the Race/Drift version. I will say that even with just the rears on my car they handle sweet though.

  20. 08-20-2012 08:53 PM #826
Too bouncy? You must have done something wrong. Mine rode amazing in the golf. Even better in the corrado.

I just figured its cause I went for the stiffer set (Race/Drift). Who knows though, I'm used to cut springs from a cupkit. Don't think I did anything wrong?

Considering buying these for my MK2 VR6. It's now on Ultra Low's, but I'd rather put those on my Corrado.

Anyone go from H&R's to these?
    Differences?
    Pros?
    Cons?

    Thanks.

How to not ride on bump stops. Let vortex show you? If not the case then try adjusting? If the back is old though, why try stiff suspension out?

I had ultra lows a few years back on another MKIII and it didn't give me any problem, road like a cadillac. Bump stops? I'll have to get under there and look a bit closer.

I'm coming from stock suspension and I'm very happy with these coils.

  28. 08-31-2012 07:39 PM #834
Hey everyone i just got my cxracing coils i'm a mechanic but not to sure about dampening and the settings and what not the rings on all my coils are about two threads above the bottom third ring. and i'm just not sure why i'm getting so much bounce i heard these were stiff.i must be doing something wrong anyone know what might be the problem?

Well how much preload to you have on the top perch? The top perch should only be snug against the spring or a turn or two beyond snug. No more than that. Then adjust the height at the bottom perch. Adjust the damping after that according to your ride preference

i think i got it i'm not sure i'll explain and you tell me if i'm right haha the perch i'm assuming are the rings? so the top perch should be compressing the spring against the top of the coilover and the tension in the coil is the preload? and then the second perch bellow that is the locking perch. Then the final perch at the bottom is the locking perch for the adjustable bracket that bolts onto the hub or rear and that's the height adjustment? and then lastly the dampening setting is just test and tune?

Just got mine in last week, tried installing them and one of my top strut mount nuts was stuck in the front. So today i was finally able to find someone with an impact gun to take it off. Tomorrow they will hopefully be going in!
