I know a good guy and he actually comes out to you and does them. As far as lowering get a good strut and spring combo not just springs.

Find a parking lot with speed bumps & ram them at 40 MPH. You'll be rice boy low & it wont cost you a dime.

I'm back to factory again, giving my ears a rest.

So, last night I go in to Maroone & check out the Golf R. It looks so Blah. The projectors look like cheap aftermarket afterthoughts. VW blew it with the styling. The inside is nice, but they are still using the same style of materials inside, on the pillars & headliner, & mounting methods. I got a bad vibe thinking about those starting to come loose around the 3 year mark, not cool on a $40k purchase. I just felt underwhelmed, so I thanked the salesman & walked out.

Then something unusual happened, or at least something I experienced for the first time. VW got the MKIV dash & interior right. This is the first time I got out of a new car, then back in to a much older car, & the interior, dash, instruments, & seats did not seem dated. VW needs to step up their game big time for the next R, unless the new one kills future models. BMW did it with the M Coupe, so it can be done.

What did it for me besides not being a big fan of the front bumper, was the FSI engine. I mean I understand why VW has had in the car in Europe, but I don't understand why they just didn't swap over the engine from 2012 and on. the motor mounts in the same place as the TSI, uses the same tranny, subframe, exhaust routing, suspension. The only differences is the axleback exhaust and the tank as far as under the car. The ECU wouldn't have been that difficult either, I believe it's using the same ECU as the 2012 GTI's just with different codes for modules and sensors. All the GTI's thus far have differences between the years (2010, 2011, 2012) such as the TPMS, ECU, coding tweaks, Bluetooth modules, etc... Also the price doesn't justify me picking it over the GTI as I paid barely more than half than an .:R would be with the options I wanted. Also TBH the AWD isn't worth it me, don't kill me rohri, chase, john, and all the other .:R owners. It's just not suitable for what I need the car to do, that's all so it wasn't a good purchase in my eyes. Anyway I agree with you in that it should have more to it for the price they are asking.

I'm not insulted, the R is what it is, & the new Golf R is diluted from the original concept. It's just like what happened to the Rabbit GTI, & eventually hit bottom with the MKIII GTI in the USA. The more recent GTI models are much improved, but they are still GT's. They do most things better than the base models, but they aren't true sports cars. I've been spoiled by having a short wheel base, RWD car with decent power to compare against the R32. There is a world of difference between the two.

Anyway, what do we need a car for other than transportation? We could get by with a Smart Car, or VW's equivalent that they don't ship over here, & anything more than that is a personal luxury.

Yes that's true, and everyone will have there opinions on what they like. The two cars that you have were made for totally different reasons and that will lead you in one direction or the other or what more is likely to happen is you'll see what what each car has to offer and appreciate it for what it does best. I agree with GT cars not being true sport cars, but they are fun.

No matter how you slice it, a $40K 4 cylinder car makes little to no sense at all. Hell, the Evo and STi barely make sense at $30K being 4 bangers.

OMG! whoever this nelson person is should have ordered these
no sense in putting a 225 in the rear atleast not with FWD. maybe we should order some nice wide tires for the volvo.
