I pulled the car into the shop yesterday to change out the core support. I was using my 99.5 core support and while the actual supports are the same, the intercooler cross over pipes are different. The snub mount nub is 1" slide over further on the 99.5.. so i had to cut my snub mount all to hell and back to get it to fit. I picked one up off of a guy on here for 50 bucks so I decided I would rip the front end apart, swap everything over to it and put it back together.

Well... that is where it began. After getting the car up and yet again trying to find my mysterious front end noise I noticed what appeared to be a leaking rear main seal. I didn't want it to destory the every bit of new SouthBend stage 3 that is in the car, so after much debating with myself and knowing I had a couple BNIB 06a rear main seals, I decided I would tear the motor out.

So I did... While it is out, I am going to be painting the VC, IM and anything else that isnt up to par. I will also be installing a SouthBend power gasket that is laying around and they wont take it back (was ordered almost 2 years ago). Depending upon what my time frame is on getting stuff off and painted, I might do all the deletes that I can, without needing anything programmed out. CEL's make me spend unneeded money to fix them.

I took some much better pictures with my DSLR, but left it at the shop last night. Here are some iphone pics.

If only the car rode this low all the time.

Sigh.. A buddy did tell me, if I can't find that noise with the motor out of the bay, then I will probably never find it. I think he's right. I just dumped a new axle into that side for it not to be the problem.

Surprisingly none of the surfaces look abnormally wore... I am swapping my AWE 12 lbs flywheel on with an unsprung disc... SO life might be close to sucking balls.. Wont know till I try it though.

      Who knows...

Yeah it's def not gear chatter.. I'm gonna get tue flywheel ran out and rebalanced.. Maybe it got off balance when Kyle sent it to southbend for a new friction disc. We'll see

The flywheel wasnt flat or balanced, but it wasnt out much. Here is what it looks like flattened

I picked it up, got it all back on the motor and decided to take this for a quick ride friday night

I haven't been able to work on the car because now I look like this

Once the Ortho clears my arm today I will start working it bk in and getting the car done. Stitches come out tomorrow evening.

Here are some cleaned pictures of the car after a quick wash

You never did tell me why you laid the bike down and is that the culprit in the background of the first pic?

you mean the second pic? yes

I was riding down the long drive leaving the shop and the 2 front fairings unhooked from the headlight surround, bike got squirly, i let out of it and im not sure if when i sat up my toe grabbed the rear brake or my hand got the front brake... i went and looked at it today.. the skid marks like 40-50 feet.. no way would that happen with a locked up front brake at 55.. youd stopy and flip.. but its a straight line, where it skips a few times is where id say i ended up flying off... the bike slid a good bit, as did i.

F*CK this car, at the moment.

Southbend disc shredded its rivets this morning on my way to work. Here is the damage.

Oh and a 4 hr start to finish engine pull with 1 arm.

First, its first ever tow truck ride to the shop

Ya he has gone through like 3 of them, but others swear by them. I chalk it up to being one of those things that when you read enough, you find some bad stories, unfortunately this time it happened to our boy Bobby.

I know how it is trust me…all I wanted to do was fix my coolant leak, I ended up fixing, TCM, MFS, crank case breather hose, CTS, some gay check valves, and coolant housing flange….that month sucked a donkey dong.
