    Thread: Falling Skies on TNT

    1. 07-13-2011 10:33 AM #26
Last episode was meh.. needs more action and sci fi bits.

    2. 07-13-2011 09:30 PM #27
IMO the first two episodes (the premier) was really corny and they blew it on a lot of fronts like Colin Cunningham trying to channel some typo of Jon Wayne persona, the black dudes trying to hard at Hollywood OG stereotype BS, Will Patton's character being wooden, etc.

The third episode was WAY better than the first. I think it was the best episode so far.

After that they have been better than the premier, but nothing special.

My issue w/ this show is that it never ends on a cliffhanger. The endings are too soft.

I think the "soft" endings w/contained stories that begin/end are likely being set up to get "drive by" viewers to jump into the series.

Watched the pilot and the next 3 episodes. Not sure if I'll watch any more.

Cliffhangers are turr'ble. Either make each episode self contained with a background story that goes from episode to episode, or give me a well written show that makes me want to tune in next week to see where the story goes.

I really dislike the flow/pacing of this show. There's no build up to a climax or conclusion. It's just a bunch of random dialogues. So disappoint.

      Finally a twist.

Thank goodness there are only 2 episodes left. Can't believe this will get picked up, even w/ Spielberg producing it.

I think the last episode was possibly the best.. and we knowing moving forward there's going to be some weird hybrid **** going on.

With only a few quality shows on right now, I'll keep watching.

I am really liking the show.

Better than most shows that are on now.

Last episode was definitely the best yet. The twist with the kid at the end just made things interesting. The preview looks good too.

I can't believe Spielberg is producing this but it does seem to be getting better.

I wish the pace of the show would pick up. There are interesting storylines, decent acting, and pretty good fx for a TV show, but why does it......move......so.......slow.....? For a bunch of people trying to survive, you'd think they'd have some sort of....urgency? Desperation? There's too much talky talky between the humans and more about the aliens.

Am I the only one that thinks the mechs look like rejects from Robo Cop?

No, I agree. The tech used to make this show is pretty poor. I've been watching it but I can't put my finger on why.

    21. 07-29-2011 10:38 AM #46
lol, way to save money by having no special effects in that last episode.

    22. 07-29-2011 04:31 PM #47
I don't mind the effects as much as I mind the fairly weak story lines and poor attention to detail.

If they fixed those then I would probably then move onto the poor acting.

Also, WTF happened to the blonde girl the oldest son hooked up with?

IIRC, they went to rescue the other son and she was captured with the oldest son. They went in and got him back but nothing about her. They just moved on.

Anyways, I think the "shocker" we are going to find out is that the harnesses placed on the kids turn them into "skidders".

      You totally called it.

Last night's ep was pretty good. Finally it feels like this is going somewhere. Figures that next week is the end of the season. I'm hoping the show gets picked up again for 2012.

      A 9-week season. Really.

They have the chance for several more episodes now that we see the humanoid creatures that run the skidders.

I can't see this getting picked up again. Ending the season right before most shows / seasons start.

Well it is a summer series. Summer series shows have been known to have a shorter season. And this episodes look like they cost some serious coin (sets, costumes, all those junked cars, fx, etc) so TNT might have only been able to afford 9 episodes.

I'd like to see it come back, but won't be heartbroken if it doesn't.
