Hey there guys...this thread was just brought to my attention.
I'm sorry to say that there will indeed not be a dash this year.
Here is a brief explanation of where we are at the moment and what the future may hold.
Venue availability, staffing constraints, and overall organization/funding are the biggest problems we have in pulling the show off.
I/we the staff simply don't have the time, energy, and financial ability to put into the show anymore as we used to.....most of us have family and job commitments that we didn't have several years ago when the show was in its' infancy.
We don't have anybody to turn to as far as organizing the show/staff/etc. and without a plan/support from the community we feel it would require to be able to go on we decided we should dissolve it until we can either put these things into better perspective or just end on a high note before it REALLY got out of hand as far as shenanigans/liabilities.
It was also getting to the point where it was hard to get the sponsors to commit:
The last couple of years have been hard as we all know as far as the economy is concerned and this affects everybody, even some of the loyal sponsors we've had for years.
Either they were dropping off entirely or reducing the amount of support they'd given us in the past as far as Money and raffle commitments....which greatly affects our ability to pull the show off and hope to meet our bottom line/break even.
Keeping this in mind, in addition to rising costs on just about everything we needed to provide our guests with made for an interesting mix of stress in relation to pulling off the event.
There are a lot of other reasons as to why we've had to make this decision and I'll definitely miss having fun with a thousand of my closest friends on the first weekend of October.
On behalf of me and all who have supported the show in any way, as a spectator, worker, or sponsor, Thanks for the good times and hopefully we can revisit this in the next couple of years.
We talked about having a "Dash to the TN Circle Yer Wagens" show, but this also has not gelled and we're basically four weeks away at this point.
If there's anyone in the community that thinks they have the tight crew and resources to pull this off I'd be glad to consult with the committee to see that the show may have a future, but all in all I'm good with ending on a high note and knowing that we pulled off one of the most unique shows stateside that has the feel and camaraderie of a European show.
I do have lots of long and short sleeved shirts avail. from last years' show if anyone wants to grab one.
Cheers mates!
