Standard or uprated?
If uprated, what brand?
If any links to decent site selling them as a kit pls
Also, how about solid mounts, whats the up and downs with them?
Finally, pictures of your mounts, as pictures worth 1000 words
Many thanks in advance.

You are in the UK, there is a guy selling orange poly mounts for the Mk2 on Ebay.
Company name is Flo-Flex.
They look well made and I'm interested in them for my Mk2.
I'm currently on stock hydro mounts.
Also in the UK is Vibra Technics, they make some uprated rubber mounts. I have them in my Mk2 VR6.

Flo-Flex on ebay £199.95 Approximately $311.34

I have been running the following for a long time and love the setup.
- G60 ft engine brkt
- Solid Front Mount
- MkII rear Mount (No Poly inserts although some run them, but I have heard will cause vibs)
- G60 solid Trans mount
you may want to closely inspect and/or reinforce the welds on the G60 brkt though.

The B4 Passat ABA or TDI has a similar front mount, but it is reinforced.
You need to use a B4 front cross member with it (VR6 or 4 cylinder doesn't matter, only the rubber mount differs).
I have the cross member with mount, but haven't found the mount bracket yet.
I have G60 bracket with a large washer under the nut, it is notched to fit. This was my fast and easy way to reinforce the G60 bracket. It just distributes the load evenly.

Right, to swap to the later front mounts, you first need to use the Corrado Vr Front cross member or the Passat. For the 4cyl, you must use the TDi 5spd bracket ( was not familiar that the B4 ABA used it as well)
I swapped to the Vr Front cross for my new motor, but needed to fab a new front brkt for the 6 speed, so I just use the std ABA as a base because they are boxed like the VR and TDi brkts and this one is only $35 brand new from VW. No ear for 02a folks (reason you need the TDi) but it has the right angle on bottom for the mount. If you like to weld, then this is a viable option for the 02a
I just sold one of the TDi ones you are looking for that I came across at the JY recently. Just make sure it is for a 5 speed as the MkIII Auto looks identical to the untrained eye, but it shorter and shift the motor forward by 1/2".
Looks like this one pictured next to the G60 however this on is an Auto and is not the correct one.

...for others that just look at pics w/o reading, do not try and use the brkt pictured above on the G60 cross member or MkII as the bottom angle is not correct. You must switch to the proper Cross member/engine carrier.

You are correct.
Also wanted to share that the rear automatic bracket pushes the motor forward (rear longer than manual trans)
Same with the automatic front braket (front shorter than manual trans bracket).
This is very slight and the layperson could not spot the difference.
When you physically measure them or lay them side by side the, the difference is obvious.

the two holes for the bolts on each side, one of them is not in line with the other hole?
Is that normal, or there something wrong with that

I didn't notice any offset on an original style hydro mount in this pic, also looked at an older early solid mount and it is symmetrical too, but has offset locating pins (not seen on this later hydro mount).
Knock off of the early mount I examined, no locating pins on this one.
You can see the offset holes in the press pic from Ebay.
Mk2 k-frame, looks symmetrical but it is an optical illusion.
Have you tried fitting it? Put some blue tape on the aluminum so you don't scratch it.
That way you can return it if it doesn't line up.
Keep us updated, I'm still very interested in the Flo-Flex mounts.

i have a golf g60 from factory, using front bbm solid motor mount(reaaly good and didnt feel that more vibrations) and stock ones on the others.

Vibra Technics mounts.
Here is an early Flo-Flex mount.
According to this link I just found, the 2nd pic shows why it didn't fit.
The single bolt hole for the rear engine bracket didn't line-up.

I suspect this issue was corrected with the new version. Have you physically tried it yet?

yes the issue was corrected as now the bottom part is solid aluminium but im not 100% sure as the car is still in the bodyshop so im unable to check it.

Sorry to drag this from the dead, but Flo-flex doesn't make mounts anymore for the g60, do they?
#19
Hi guys since this was brought from the dead i thought i might ask for help here cause its useful to others and is relevant to the topic,so my front solid mount from bbm snapped the top bolt and in the same time, the bracket bolt (the one that goes from tranny to braket) sideways, the tranny ear hole,is broken so i dont know what to do,any pointers would be great! Thanks in advance guys

Dunno, just to make sure our bump is visible...
Get rid of the MKII setup. It is outdated, weak and will fail with Higher TQ. Get the Corrado VR Front Engine Carrier/Cross Member, B3 VR or any B4. Then use the MkIII Diesel 5 speed 4 cyl Engine Bracket. You can use your mount of choice after that. VF, BFi Inserts, etc, etc,

Thank you shaun i was hoping you reply to the thread since i knew you got the answer to my mishap,mk3 vr rad support would work? Or only passat b3,b4? Also k-frame,mk3 or passat only? Will drop a pm! Thanks in advance mate.I haven't been able to use my coupe in two months and im getting anxious

I ordered new Stock MKII Diesel mounts (which maybe the exact same as gassers, but I think the front is firmer)
I had one car with solid mounts, that was enough. Unless it was a car that was pretty strictly a track car, or occasional weekend driver. Never on a car I want to drive everyday like my G60.

only Passat B3 VR, B4 or Corrado VR on the front carrier (note: b3 4cyl is the same as the MKII, G60). The MK3 mounts on the Sides (where they bolt to the Frame Horns) are angled and will not work.
Mk3 K Frame will work as long as you modify the rear tabs (after the sway bar mounts). You can simply drill a hole and use a washer. If you swap K-Frames, just remember you will need the mk3 4cyl (5Spped) rear Alum Engine Bracket too. Make sure it is NOT AUTO. On any of the engine brackets for that matter as Auto are a different length.
#26
Yes.
Why is that? Because he didn't think of it first? LOL j/k
The only draw back is the cost of sourcing the parts. There is no other unless you call a 2x stronger setup, vast choices in engine mounts and less engine vibration through the car a bad thing![]()

The G60 (PG Block) is not a well balanced motor. Upping the the HP factors the vibration issues. I've done a vibratechnics mount on my STG III w/ a TEC GT-1. With just the front mount the vibration it transmitted was miserable. It's not the mount it's the characteristic of the motor.
Both of my G60 blocks literally tore the crap out of my s/s 2.5 TT downpipe and exhaust if I didn't change the mounts every 20-30K miles. My stock 158 hp motor did fine on worn mounts. This is what works best on my set up as a compromise for comfort and performance (approx 250 hp)
55 Shore Hardness Motor Mount from Passat 16V Auto They make an 85 Shore hardness (part # 199.165HD) I don't know if they have any in stock. I would of got this one if I knew about it when I got my 55 Shore mount

Honestly, use something similar to that setup a few posts up. I did the 85 shore TT MKII rear mount mod, solid OEM style tranny mount, and a vibratechnics front mount.
I got the front mount on one of my other cars and the PO ran it for like 35k without breaking the bracket. I have run it another 4 on the same bracket, no problems. The BBM solid front style allows for way less play than the VT one. I was putting in my motor and connected the mount bolts and was able to pivot the motor no problem to get it into the other mounts. I doubt I could have done that with the BBM front mount.
The vibrations in the car are certainly more noticeable, but I stiffened everything up with new bushings and a few poly pieces, along with H&R coils and 40 series tires so I can't be sure which vibrations are what, but idle vibrations are only annoying in cold weather during cold starts.
Now, if you put down like 260WHP, then you'll need something else, and beefier is always better if you want to put the work into doing that full-on update of the mount system, but I personally feel like my setup is solid through stage 4. Your mileage may vary.
