Hey guys, I have an 01 Jetta and when I unlock my car (sometimes) or when I start my car (everytime) my trunk lid pops open . Is this a common problem with the Jetta? It is really cold outside lately (10 F) so it isn't fun having to get out of the car every time you start it to close the trunk. Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

Haha, no, actually I have very small hands (replaced the suction pump valve working between the intake ) This is the first time it has ever happened in the three years I have owned the car, so I do not think it is anything I am doing...

possibly the comfort control module, or try unplugging the trunk release switch in the door and then start the car, see if it still does it.

-Well what if I hold it for you?
-You would do that for me?

Ok, so I went to go get some BK and found a temporary fix. When I turned the ignition to "on" nothing happened. But as soon as i turned the key to start the engine, the trunk immediately popped open. So, I decided to try Rob's advice and lock the door buttons. I turned the car off, locked the buttons, and when i turned the car back on the trunk stayed close. This is a good temporary fix, but does anyone know why this would all of a sudden start happening?

Shorted trunk popper switch most likely. Those thongs sadly aren't cheap

I have a 2000 Jetta and same deal, start engine and "bootlid" opens. I also have the dash lights going max and there seems to be some relationship between those the the "bootlid". Been snowy and wet here so what connector or ECU is suffering from moisture?
