    Thread: VAG-COM/VCDS Questions

    1. 01-13-2011 02:31 PM #1
      Hi,

I have a 2008 VW JETTA MKV 2.0T WOLFSBURG EDITION

      I want to do the following;

-When locking doors turn off honk to only blinking lights.
-Turn off daytime running lights (Will this remove light in dash as well?)
-Turn off Tire pressure monitoring system light in dash due to aftermarket wheels.
-Enable windows up & dn on keyless entry.
      -Turn off seat belt noise.
      -Power steering assist adjust.

What are some other cool common things can do? I have no fog lights, no memory seats, no euro switch.

Can someone send me the link(s) of items I need to do the following above? It's just a usb cable, software from your site, & need to have a lap top correct? I want the cheapest option.

Can I get this under $250?

Can I resale this later to someone else?

      Thanks,

      Vince

Almost all your questions are answered here:
      http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/Golf5.html

I'm not sure if the blinker and DRL settings are different on US-spec cars but for the TPMS:

17-Instruments>>Adaptation>>Ch. 61 and subtract 512 from the value you find there.

For the seat belt warning, check this:
      http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?1649757

      For the power steering:
44-Steering assist>>Adaptation>>Ch. 1. A higher value means lighter steering (max. 5), lower means stiffer handling.

All those requests on you list can be accomplished. If you are not looking to keep the Vag-Com cable, I think the best thing to do would be to look for a local performance shop. Call them up and see what they will charge to take care of what you have in mind. If you prefer to buy your own then the cable listed at the following link would be the chepest you can buy. http://www.ross-tech.com/Merchant2/m...ry_Code=VAGCOM

This cable can either be upgraded later or it can be sold.
If you can afford to screw up twice, why can't you afford to do it right the first time?

Power Steering Assist (adjustment) most likely not available on a 2008.
The Controller was set to a "fixed" value during the 2006 production cycle.

If decided to buy. How much can I sell it used for? The new buyer just needs the cable? Wont need to pay for register for software?

Seriously man, all these questions are answered on ross-tech's website...read the FAQ.

But yes, the license is "built in" to the cable...no additional license purchases necessary.

      Sorry.

      I just want to make sure it can do the following;

-When locking doors blinking lights instead of honk.
-Turn off daytime running lights/remove DRL light in dash.
-Turn off Tire pressure monitoring system light in dash due to aftermarket wheels.
-Enable windows/sunroof to roll up & dn using keyless entry.

Is it worth buying and resale it or go to a local tuning place and get it done?

How much would I get reselling it?

      Thanks.

      Thanks.

As far as Tire pressure light do you do this only in module 19. I seen some mention module 65 as well?

The coming/leaving home feature. Will that work w/o a euro switch?

Should be able to find quick under the VCDS forums with a quick search.
I don't remember the two off bat, but yes there are two places you have to change:

      1) Removes the actual "DRL" light on the dash.
      2) Removes the warning in the MFD IF you have it.

Pretty sure you need the Euro switch w/ the coming home feature.

      Good Luck!

Both Coming Home and Leaving Home can be enabled with a standard US non-automatic switch, though the automatic switch is what was intended. Each must be activated in the Central Electronics controller with a VagCom.

When using a non-automatic switch, simply leave the light switch in the "on" position all the time. Coming Home and Leaving Home will both work as intended in this position. Once the switch is turned to the "off" position, only the Leaving Home feature will work.

That was from the Mk5 euro switch thread

The CAN Cables are transferrable, but you would not want to sell yours once you see what it can give you, over time.

Went to a tuning place and got the following done for $20. Happy about that.

-When locking doors turn off honk to only blinking lights.
      -Turn off daytime running lights.
-Turn off Tire pressure monitoring system light.
-Enable windows/sunroof up & dn on keyless entry.
      -Turn off seat belt noise.

      Andy:

FWIW, I have seen the same fault codes as F33L reports above when diagnosing a friend's MK V GTI, and I do have a genuine Ross-Tech interface, running the latest firmware and software.

F33L is trying to use (most likely) Coding from the MKV Forum FAQ/DIY.
He has a 2010 MKV, and transferring Coding from a pre-2010 Jetta to a 2010 Jetta just won't work.
F33L should go into the DEBUG Folder on his installed VAG Software (Hard Drive on his computer), and revert all the way back to original coding. (same issues for pre-2010 GTI/Rabbits, and true 2010 GTI/Rabbits)
