Thanks everyone. I'm optimistic that we'll have a pretty good turn out.

Anybody have any suggestions for where to go after everyone has gotten the chance to arrive and hang for a while?

That's kinda how I was seeing it. While the location is not in the "center" of the map per se, it's in a spot where most folks will have a direct route via highway.

For what it's worth, I didn't just pick a spot close to me... I live WAY the hell up north, past where 215 and 95 meet!

Either way, after the first couple of meets, if folks want to change the spot, time, or whatever, then that's what we'll do.

    Cheers-
    Mark

Here in the bay area, we hold our meats down in Monterey, which is one hour south of San Jose. Ouch, talk about a drive. Half of the regulars are driving from in or around San Jose, and every once in a blue moon we'll get a guy who drives from further than that. It really says something good about your group when you see folks willing to drive that distance just to hang out.

Being honest though, I wouldn't drive more than 20 minutes if all the group did was stand around in the parking lot and do absolutely nothing else. It's totally understandable people's reluctance to drive as well, especially in a big city, where you really don't have to drive "too far" for anything in particular (especially to just stand around in a parking lot).

Hopefully they'll enjoy the first meat and it's activities, and with any luck they'll keep coming back.

I never understood why people complain about driving their cars to a place so they can talk about their cars.
