I'm almost positive it calls for 5-40 w/ vw spec 502. And 5-30 if that's not available where you shop, but only if it's VW 502 spec.

Amsoil site recommends 5-40 and if they don't make the right oil for an application they will actually recommend a different brand instead of just stating that they don't make something for that application.

Amsoil European Car Formula 5W40, by far the best oil I've tried.

I change it every 3000 miles (Palm Springs area, warm all year, extremely hot in summer, 120++)
    Das giebt's doch gar nicht!

Amsoil European Car Formula 5W40 is good for boosted vr6's ? Or n/a? Just asking because I know once you go boost the oil changes too. I have n/a so is this good for n/a?

    Castrol Edge 5W/40

Noticably better than the dealer supplied Longlife 5W/30 stuff. Better in terms of engine smoothness and consumption.

I use Mobil 1 0w-40 for euro cars. Its a little easier on the vr in the winter upon startup but still stays thick enough when warm.

I just started using Lubro Moly 0w40 and like it, got it from ecstuning, before that I've used Total Quartz 5w40, Amsoil European Formula 5w40. All of them were pretty good, very smooth. I was also thinking of Motul oil. Pretty much anything that's 502.00 is good, I just like to use little higher grade or so I think it is. You can always send your current oil sample to Blackstone laboratories for testing and they will tell you how long you can run it in your car and how the oil is holding up. I had good results with all the oil I mentioned above.

I use Mobile 1 turbo diesel truck 5-40. Easier since I already buy it for my TDI .

Ahh the best of the worst oils. Been proven to brake down faster and not protect like its competitors.
