    Excellent info. Thx!

With that then i think my solution is
    Code:
    (12)
    (11)---N321
    (14)---+---ecu
           +---/\/\/---12v
Which is slightly different than i had before in that 11 and 14 are swapped around, but i dont think that was a problem. I fear my resistor may have been bad. I pulled it from some very old parts i had laying around. So i will get a new 1k .5w one and try again.

that said, how can you tell its wokring if you cant hear a difference at idle? Any easy test?
    Thx!

Hooked it up as in my last post. Still cant tell any difference even while driving. Unsure if its workng or not. Checked all connections, seem good. Checked resistor and voltage on ecu side of brown/lilac. Kinda of at loss at this point.
    Thx!

Like I said in this post:
    http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...1#post73916011

    Stock:
"* Flapper is always off in 1st and 2nd gears.
    * Flapper is off over 3500 rpms (unless engine braking)
    * Flapper is on when engine braking
    * When downshifting at higher rpms, flapper is briefly off"

So, third gear and revs below 3500 should give you flapper closed/quiet, if stock mode.

Thx. I saw that. Ill listen more intently tomorrow. I guess the quickest tell is engine braking. If its louder when sitch is on, then it should be working. Spent too much of time on it this weekend and a little disappointed at this point.
    Thx!

I can *just* make out the difference in certain conditions, but mostly i cannot. I did resolve the p-code error. Turns out the fuse for the accessory socket blew at some point between wiring and testing and re-assembly. No more flapper error! Maybe aftermarket exhaust time.
    Thx!

If you want to temporarily get louder exhaust sound inside your car, try folding the rear seat. It makes quite a difference.

I am doing a 3 way switch and need a little clarification/help. If any of my assumptions are incorrect please let me know.

    1. In my car the control wire is brown and the 12V is blue and red striped. I don't see lilac so I didn't know if that meant it could be "lilac or brown" or it was "lilac AND brown".
    2. As far as I can see from the diagrams, I should cut the brown wire and run two wires, each of these two wires is tied to the two cut ends of the brown wire.
    3. Run the two newly attached wires to the front of the .:R to the switch (in my case 3 way).
    4. If I can find a 12V source up front and a ground I should be able to wire the switch as it is in the diagram.
    5. Which end of the cut brown wire is the ECU side and which is the solenoid side? I define the brown wire directions as either up over the wheel well or down merging with the thick wire loom attached to the floor of the boot.

    Thank you!

"up over the wheel well" -> ECU
"down merging with the thick wire loom attached to the floor of the boot." -> Solenoid

not sure if serious...but if you are...disconnect the vacuum tube from the flapper on the exhaust, plug it up with a golf tee...done.

    enjoy the loudness.

I tried that and I noticed it is still quiet at idle and in low rpms. I'm just trying to get it as loud as my brothers MKIV R32 with flapper mod. I could care less about controlling it.

    Buy a MKIV.

Many have tried to reproduce the MKIV exhaust on the MKV. Not sure anyone has achieved it really. If you just want loud, there are plenty of aftermarket catbacks to achieve this...or simply delete the resonator/tampa mod it.

Maybe I missed it somewhere but for this switch to work is the vacuum line hooked up to the flapper (like stock) or is it disconnected?

the point of this mod is to be able to use the flapper on command, how would it work if it was disconnected?

    eat your wheaties!

Sorry, thought the wires ran directly to the flap, now I get it.
