    Hey guys,

    Anyone with some feedback on what might be wrong with this car would be much appreciated.

    So its my neices car. She said it started makin a loud clanking sound but was still running. She drove it home and the noise got much louder and she said a steam/smoky air came through the vents. When I got there it still turned over and ran but is making a seriously loud metal banging sound. I couldn't see anything noticeable making the noise..sounded like it was behind the engine, near the headers.
    So ran the obd2 scanner, gave me p0411 and p0134. Pretty sure the cel was on before this happened..at least 1 of them..
    So, any ideas on what went wrong?
    Thanks

    Hey I got the exact same problem. Any explanations/solutions found since? Same codes, awful metal noise too when at idle and at acceleration, but much less when in Neutral. Let me know how you handled it if you can it would be much appreciated!

    P0134 O2 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected, Bank 1 Sensor 1, P0411 Secondary Air Injection System Incorrect Flow Detected
    You don't have a scan pasted but these are the faults. Don't know what motor you have either.

    Sorry about that,, yes I know the fault descriptions but I know there are a lot of discussions about their appearing together and since I saw someone with the precise same problem I was wondering if they found a fix.
    It is a Jetta GLS 2.0L 4 cylinders 2002 Engine code AZG.
    Here are the specifics;
    I had a vacuum line (the one visible on the topside, bottom left of the engine block, about 4-5 inches long) completely deteriorated which at first brought on the P0411 but was not detected for a while. I replaced it but it had already caused a few other issues IMO. I had 'low coolant' for the first, added appropriately and ever since (3 months) there's been a tiny leak somewhere I can't see or reach. I add a little coolant every other week since then, and I've looked everywhere for the source of the leak to no avail, although from under you can distinctly see some dried up coolant on the transmission and on the front axe. All the while I have been having random misfires every two-three weeks too even though I changed my ignition coil and my coil only las year. My next order already has a new ignition coil, spark plugs And wires and a replacement wire to re-ground the coil since a lot a people advised that it was very often the cause for misfires.
    Don't know if those are related though. Finally, only a few weeks after the P0411 I started having the other fault code for the O2 sensor but I don't understand where "pre-cat" refers to, I can only manage to locate the one ON the cat, but I hear the faulty one is around the manifold?

    So anyways, apparently the combination of these codes means something peculiar and a lot of people are talking; Some people talk about combi valves, vacuum lines, plugging the SAI independently to see if it works, checking for cracks, running scans, and I've read about a lottt of things to see and check, but has anyone actually done something and had their problem fixed?? Because I'm about to make a big order for a lot of other fixes (ECSTuning) but I need to know exactly what to do you know?

    Thanks and again any help would be much appreciated.

    Ummmm ok. The ground is for ignition activation faults not misfires. But if it has not been done, do it. As for the coolant leak, it could be at the water pump, &/or coolant flange. The leak you don't want is the heater core, but you would smell coolant when the heater is on. As for the SAI fault p0411 it could be a lot of things. Mainly either the pump is coming apart or the hoses have problems. IF the pump comes on check the system for leaks. If you run basic settings 77 it will run the SAI diagnostic. Again need a scan posted. As for the noise, check to see if the oil pan protector is loose.?.
