    Update:

Headed up to NGP's 2011 Dyno Day. Added in 4 gallons of 100 Octane on a very empty tank and made our way up burning through 2 gallons on the way there. After loading the tank with the gas, made a slight adjustment to Unisettings bumping timing from +.75 to +1.5.

Holy hell did that make an impact. +25WHP gain without W/M spraying. There should now be no doubts as to what this fairly inexpensive Turbo can do.

    Before. (April 2011)

    259WHP

    After. Today (19NOV11)

    284WHP

    Bosch Green Giants 440cc

A drop in 440cc fuel injector, commonly referred to as "Green Giants"
Green Giant 440cc/minute commonly used with self assembled big turbo kits. Customers have had good success combining these injectors with VR6 MAF housings with stock or standard chipped programming.

A direct drop in fuel injector for the standard fuel rail, no spacers needed.

We originally ran 386cc. The duty cycle was near 100% during testing. We opted with the Green Giants and before too long the UNI STG2 440cc file was made as it is today. The key here is FT + UNI + W/M = a kickass tune that won't break the bank. 285whp is enough for me on DD with FWD.

Car is just about to flip 155k miles and I have now close 17k miles on this setup.

Yes with this Kit including the 440cc Green Giants, the UNI STG2+ 440cc file and a 3" exhaust you should see 260whp. But if you want that 260whp or better reliably everyday you will need a FMIC or uprated SMIC and W/M setup.

I just was reading through NAMSport Thread over in the Zoo next door. Seems like a one stop shop.

Stock or highflow manifold? I've heard people say the stock one works just fine

As far as the intake goes you would be right. The exhaust side pays dividends.

are you saying if i wanted to run this set up i would need a side mount AND w/m or could i just run a side mount…? the plan is to eventually get w/m.

Well the uprated SMIC's are not going to provide cooling that can provide sustained temps for the FT. Damn thing gets hot! During some of the back to back runs on the Dyno we had 99C temps. We had an EGT probe tapped in the exhaust manifold and I seem to recall temps up above 1500F! After the W/M install we got down to 1200 or thereabouts and intake temps were down to about 35C sustained.

For day to day use you are just going to need better cooling to control detonation and it helps when you want to mess with timing/boost. Nothing wrong with a FMIC and W/M also, I'm just not a fan of piping running all over the bay. Looks like ass, not very elegant IMHO.

Hey I have a question about the TIP to the op. how do you keep it on there because the turbo barrell don't have a lip on it so mine keeps slipping off and won't sit flush against the turbo. thanks

Ensuring the coolant hard lines are cleared enough out of the way, a little hair spray and a T-bolt clamped all the way to the stop. It's the only way that I know of.

If you have to. Disconnect every line to the TIP. Start over and get flush against the inlet and tighten up the clamp. Then reconnect the rest.

You are the only guy running an FT that I know of who has an issue with his TIP. If all else fails, call Doug or take it to reputable shop.

man I've taken it to a shop and tried hairspray.. haven't tried the t clamp. it makes me wonder if I have a defective turbo too.

The GLI is at 169,710 miles. The FT has not shown any issues as of yet and neither has any of the components. I did just swap in a STG3 CM Clutch because the FT ate the STG1. That was about 5k miles ago.

There is a small problem I am having an issue with that I'm not sure what's the solution. I keep blowing the 15a fuse for the fuel pump. The contact points on the pump are clean, I had NGP take a look and they thought maybe the fuel filter is dirty. The fuse blows after starting the car if I'm running around town alot. Like quick stops here and there. But if I start her after say 8 hours just sitting in the garage she is fine. There is a chance it could be the CPS slowly dying. I read somewhere the CPS needs to know the crank position before it turns over. Other than she runs just as strong. Burning through Boost Juice with all this heat lately!

Hello Jwoody saw your post on the F4T great post. This turbo seams to be what I'm looking for. I have a question about Unitronic how do you change the timing parameter. Thanks Pete

Pete take a look at this screen grab from UNISettings. You want Channel 9 for adjustment up and down...

Nope. It still runs like a champ though. Replaced the 409 relay with the OE part and pops #28 rarely now. Might be a bad ground somewhere. At any rate I'm approaching 36k on this setup. Still running...

Yep. 174,350 miles. Almost 40k on the setup. If she makes it to 200k or perhaps another year I may rebuild the motor. Respray the front end and have the RC's refurbished, rebuild the tranny possibly. It's her birthday month. December of 2004 seems a long time ago...
