      Hi MK1 forum
My name is Nick and I'm from Cyprus (that's a country in Europe for whoever is wondering ) and here I'll try to document my first MK1 build.

I'm coming from the Corrado forums/world so MK1's are new to me but getting one has been a dream come true. Here's my Corrado (It's been a 7 year project and now its 90% finished):

      And here's the MK1:

It's a one owner, '81 RHD 2dr Mars Red 1.6 8v GTi (engine code EG), no sunroof model.
This is going to be a slow build but I'll try to update here as much as I can

Pressure washed and cleaned the bay a bit today.

Decided that I'm definately shaving the washer fluid res & bracket since its useless here anyway but still not sure if I want to delete or keep the battery tray I really like the rear battery relocation... Probably going for painting the bay next week and I really need to make up my mind on this

My plan is to keep the bay (and the whole project as a matter of fact) close to oem so raintray stays

You mean for the MK1? If so, then no - well atleast not now
...I do have a 16V (KR) engine sitting around but I wanna keep the 8v for a while and see how it goes

      Sure thing

Interior gutted. Inspected for rust, results are good, no rust at all

Time to clean the floor, put a new sound deadening kit, maybe a new carpet set too...we shall see.

This car was swapped to an MK2 dash, but job was done correct and the fit is actually nice but the top part of the dash itself is cracked and because I couldn't locate an MK1 dash locally I'm gonna keep it with the MK2 dash just gonna find a better condition one. I'm going to need a new headliner too, going for a black one.

      Dash pulled:

Yeah MUCH easier. Alot less to them.

Older the car usually the more work when you first get them. And you knew this was going to be a project getting into it

Scored an unbelievable deal on a used set of KW coilovers for my MK1 (my favourite brand - always wanted a set )

      Just needed some TLC

      2 done:

      ...2 to go

So, here's the part # on them:

      Art.Nr. 15380140 / 15380423
      Auftr.Nr. APX300 / APX301
      800 1010 / 800 1110

      Springs numbers:
      20-60-80 / 20-60-80
      50-170 / 40-200
      08E05 / 20E05

      Body numbers:
      65300067 04-05 / 65300066 24/05

Can anyone help with some info on the above???

Decision made - Battery tray is being shaved afterall
