Will gladly give you a hamburger for a ride along at Willow Springs FASTIVUS track day

I will be close to the area as my son has a baseball tournament Labor weekend, but can skate out for a ride if possible. If not no biggie, I may came out and loiter for a bitand check out some MKV R32 track set-ups.

25" FTG front and 25.5" in the rear

these tires are 24.7 vs my 19" Dunlop Direzza DZ101 which are 25.2", so it sits lower than I'm used too.

Test drove the car last night, no rubbing at all with the 245's, my driveway has a good incline and I was able to stuff the tires way up in the wheel well tucking, no issue.

I'm trying out Racing Brake XT970 track pads up front and XT960's in the rear, all I can say is wow, this thing is going to stop killer at the track. Night and day difference over OEM.

Video of this weekend to come.

Lolasaurus_Rex, thanks for the intake extension, testing was rough at 104F.

Racing Brake calipers and pads bed-in by the third heat and felt solid.

Hankook Z214's scrubbed in nice, 245's are gnarly.

Whiteline walk and Spoon Sports Rigid Collars kept the steering feel nice!

Ready for Fastivus, I got a new car.

Scorpion downpipes should be in later today. I did some searching over the weekend and I ended up finding some nice cats, Mil.Spec Race Cats 100 cell, seems that a lot of the high hp turbo guys are running them. I was considering trying to use the OEM cats, but I want to squeeze as much power as I can and have the option to revert back to the OEM downpipe if needed.

If by 'Cali-spec' you mean CARB-legal, probably not.
The complete list of aftermarket cats approved for use in CA is here, and Mil.Spec is not listed.

The only Cal spec cat I found was the magnaflow 447206 in a 2.5" size. I was going to get those, but these should flow better. I'll be keeping my OEM downpipe as a backup.

That list above doesn't really work because our cars are too new.

Would they really get under the car and inspect the physical cat if the car passes emissions tests?

I can't wait for the dyno results , really wanna see the downpipe + HFC difference over OEM.

Yes they will inspect the exhaust system from engine to tail. The inspection usually happens with the car on a drive rack. It's a crazy system here these days, for public safety your car fails emissions, but heaven forbid Caltrans picks up any Road Warrior debris on the freeway, bath tub in lane 1 safe, but HFC bad.

I'm pretty sure the local smog place I use won't give any issues. In the past when I lived in Los Angeles, sometimes you could get stopped and have a field inspection done.

Looking forward to it too, I'm waiting for a check to come in later in the week and I'll order the mil.spec cats. I'm hoping to have it installed next week.

I found a few local exhaust shops that tig weld, so just trying to get that nailed down for next week.

If all goes well, I'll dyno the week of the 15th.

In LA sometimes they have sniffers setup when you're getting on the freeway, I used to have to turn my car off and coast my MKII through the sniffer getting on the freeway, hahaha...

I haven't had to get smog-tested yet, but most of the smog-only test shops in LBC don't seem to be *that* thorough. When testing my previous car, they never looked underneath it nor in the engine bay; they simply plugged their cable into the OBD port, shoved the probe into the exhaust pipe, and that was pretty much it.

Also, not sure about other folks' experiences, but since our car looks fairly 'plain', I doubt we're as likely to get pulled over for random checkups as say, some kid in a Evo or STI with a giant wing in the back .

Never had that happen to my car. . .I have only been smogged once so far. I have also heard, though, that they are doing away with the tailpipe sniffers. I'll have to research that to confirm it.

When San Diego had money in the budget SDPD had smog check/inspection points. Not trying to be a fear monger, just lookin out for boy Blue, oops Ryan E.

I asked my smog guy about 3 weeks ago and he said they haven't got any word of this change yet and sometimes these things take a while to implement.

Hitting AAA Speedway Roval tomorrow, shouldn't be as hot as my last visit (104ºF), hoping to break my best time of 2:03. Looking to get some video too since it's been a while.
