2011 Golf SE (bt, no roof) - 18,488 (250 under invoice) + tax, 60 @ 1.9, 0 down (3k really, but that cleared out my trade), 380$ a month (with gap)

2010 GTI, bought for 23,100 with sunroof, mat kit, 18's and 6 speed. Car already had 100 mile on it.
Down 3,000 and got the 1.9 apr. payments at 375 a month for 66 months. What kills me is the high tax at 9.75

I known didn't make out like a bandit on my car...

I paid 28,000 bucks...it's a 4 door, 6 speed with sunroof/nav option (include xenon and mat kit as well)...it was not a "lot" car so they weren't itching to get rid of it, was actually waiting for it to arrive so they knew they "had me" when it came time to negotiate...they knocked 600 off the price...

Final with TT&L was $30,649.00, drove to the bank with the salesman and wrote a cashiers check...title in hand 2 weeks later so I wasn't complaining about paying this amount. It wasn't a huge bargain but it was a huge smile when I took delivery and full ownership.

I'm surprised to see 72 month financing, even more so to see 0 down. I mean, I'm scrounging now to save up at least $5k before the end of the month to put down on my GTI, and I’m buying a used 2010 with 6k miles.
I guess if you can afford that, but it's gotta take a toll. I mean I make what I like to believe is good money for my first year out of college, but I’ve done my run with the $400 a month payment... it becomes a nuisance after a while. Hoping to fall in the low $300 this time around

So $400 is a nuisance and $300 isnt? My gut tells me that if $100 is making or breaking you every month that you shouldn't have a car payment to begin with. I mean, sure, I wanted to stay under $400 too...but when it comes down to it, I'm not going to be eating ramen if I have to pay $100 more a month...

My GLI was $486 a month. So my new payment of $400 a month is a-okay with me.

The $486? Yeah man, lol. It was pretty bad. $400 is still a lot for my GTI but I didn't put any money down. I can live with it now.

These threads are always difficult since there are so many there are so many variables that factor into the "price" of a vehicle. That being said....

Bought: 2011 GTI 6-speed base, no options/add ons August 2010
Purchase Price: 23.8K (~600 below MSRP, ~300 above Invoice)
    Trade: 07 GTI DSG Package 0 (no options) ~49K miles - 13.3K
Net Purchase price: 10.5K before TTL.

2011 Jetta TDI DSG Non-Navi, Toffee

Sticker was $31,500 (Im in the SF Bay area....)
I paid $120 over MSRP + $1950 for VW extended 5yr 100k warranty (Out the door, $27,550 total)
    3.44% APR, 60 months, 0 down, our payments are $550 a month
Plan is to put $10k down on principal next month when the bonuses hit, then refinance to 1.99% for 48 months which would drop the monthly by a good chunk.

    You're scaring everyone...31,500 was sticker!

Is this the manufactures window label or a price the dealer added?

My wife and I have a pretty good income, but I never take it for granted. With the economy like it is, I wanted to get the longest terms I could, just in case things go bad, and I unexpectedly have to scrape for payment, but realistically, I expect to have it paid off before the end of this year.

lol, did you buy it used, or do you live on some other planet? I work at a new car dealership and that'd be stupid for them to sell $1000 under invoice considering on a $20K car only has $400 in holdback + maybe like $100-200 in other "bonus" (finance) money. Here in California those cars are super hot and don't have any special financing deals. They'd literally be losing $400-500 to provide you with that car. There must be some crazy back story to this, or you bought a whopper of a service contract that made up for all the loss on the car.

$400 was managable; would I do it again? for the right car certainly, but the Idea of an extra 1200 in my pocket every year is always more attractive. I make good money, but I also Like saving money (as most would), if a sunroof and navi and Detroits are gonna cost me an extra 1200 a year for the next four years...I'd opt out.

Word, I feel you there. I was the same way, I knew I was getting rims, so leave out the rims, don't *need* a sunroof or nav or any of that stuff, fitted me into a car that was like $6K less, with 2K I'm dumping the car on some cool rims and I'm happy with that.

Wow congrats on an insane deal...seriously though how does the dealer make money on a deal like that? Tax would put you at like 25.5....were there any dealer "add ons" like an insane doc fee? The '11s have only been out like 5 months so it's not like they have been sitting around. Were there any incentives?
