Like I said on your other thread bud; don't put too much store in the "claimed" gains. All intakes will be pretty similar for that

its only an intake and the gains will be minimal.. just enjoy the sound.

lol, it's funny. When I first got in the R, I thought the audio setup was pretty good. Granted, I was in a car before that had a blown speaker.

But the more I listen to it (and after ordering the Dynaudio and reading reviews on it), I can only think about how much it's lacking and how much better it could be. lol.

If it arrives before next Wednesday and I can get it installed in time, I'll make sure you get a listen.

Although, I should probably let you know that the part has been superceded and it's now back up to close to 800 dollars. lol.

Wow! Oh well, my R is a lease so I'm not going to waste the money then. I have it for the remainder of this year and I return it next Feb. after all the recalls and such I think this will be my last VW I've already had three.

I would def like to listen to it next time you can make it to the meet. Let's hope it makes a difference!

I remember you mentioning that lastnight. Understandable though, considering you've already had 3. At least what you have your eyes on is still coming out of Europe.

My fingers are crossed. lol. Both that they honor the price I (and a bunch of other vortexers) purchased it at and that the difference is noticeable. Pfft, for 11 bucks any improvement is going to be worth it imo. lol.

600 watt amp replacing a 300 watt amp, I'm pretty confident.

i think i'm going to go back to volvo, i had an s40 t5 before the R, good car and no recalls.

hell yeah, i agree i wish i knew about the offer for 11 bucks i would have bought it...they probably will honor it seeing as they will have a lot of pissed off customers if they don't.

The XC60 R-Designs are pretty nice. I haven't taken a ride in a volvo since my Aunt had one when I was a lot younger.

I think I'd go with the C30 if I had to choose but obviously it's your call.

Unfortunately, ECS failed to come through with the amps, as I figured they would've. No new amp. lol.

Saab, Rdurty, you guys are going to kill me. I managed to find a brand new AFE Stage 2 Cold Air Intake for 250 dollars shipped. That intake normally sells for 400+.

I was really leaning towards the EVOM and nearly pulled the trigger but the AFE will be a lot easier to install and a lot of reviews I've read make it sound like a really sound choice when paired with exhaust and dsg/ecu flashes. Plus, the install seems a lot easier (considering I don't have to "fabricate" and spend more money to fabricate my own cold air feed). Furthermore, the thought of "saving" that much money on something tipped the scales in the AFE's favor.

I hope I made the right choice.

Should arrive sometime next week, 16th-19th - just in time for a ride up to Tampa for the Wife and I's first year anniversary.

No worries man; post up a good review of the AFE when you get it. The only person I know who bought an AFE had it up for sale a week later and he had reinstalled his EVOMS.

Not trying to say you made a wrong choice; just an interesting annecdote to say we still haven't had a decent review of the AFE as yet

I installed it and went for a quick jaunt to merge onto I-5 at WOT a few times... All I can say is OMFG! With the complete package of Magnaflow exhaust, APR ECU tuning and the AFE intake I am now 100% satisfied with the power and power delivery of the VR6. I kid you not, the eagerness feels like an automatic S4 4.2. It sounds really pissed off too when you go beyond 1/3 throttle but is OEM during mellow driving.

I am estimating 275hp at the crank. Perhaps I'm smoking crack, but my butt dyno says it feels like that over OEM and I've had several powerful cars in the last 5 years: M-coupe, V70R, Impreza STi, Stg2 MkV GTi. This car has the best overall package and power delivery now. Now all that remains are downpipes with race cats, APR DSG flash (if it ever comes out) and coil overs. I'll then be happy for a while at least until Audi decides to import another cool wagon. Oh crap, I want a $BBK$ too...
    http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...1#post68246962

I will make sure to post up my own review though, for sure. I'm really excited and very happy with the price point I got it at. As soon as I went to check the listing after I purchased it, the price jumped up to 337.

Just FYI he is smoking crack

    275hp...

as we have all already stated; all these intakes are virtually the same as far as what, if any, performance gains they provide. And this one is even sketchier than most as it is just a new top for the stock box, and a new filter inside it... Not even a cold air feed.

EDIT: Sorry... I am not trying to put it down as again I haven't seen any real tests (outside AFE). As it is a closed box I can see it keeping temps down over some others, so it is still useful I am sure

I want to go for a black and white theme with my R. All these "refinements" will come after the intake.

    Black Engine Coil Caps

    Tubing for Engine Coil Caps

    Smoked Side Mirror Lenses

    Smoked Bumper Side Markers

    Silver/Black VR6 Valve Stem Caps

Think it's going to look all black and white'd out. Car is getting tinted this weekend as well.

Opinions? I considered blue engine coil caps and such but fear that Saab will come after me for jocking too many of his ideas.
