So, ive decided to do a build thread to keep my progress documented and hopefully get some suggestions on things... so here it goes

      back story:
bought my first VW, 89 jetta 8v w/ 88k miles on the clock for $500 floors were mint but the rear arches and rockers were going...

First was to correct the beat-up front end... so i bought a parts car, strut towers and floors junk.

Front end coming apart: it was pouring out!

All Done: Big bumper conversion aswell

then i got ambitous and tackled the rear arches and rocker....
      Sand blasting HQ:

but i felt it was too much time/money to repair [i hate myslef everyday for what i did next....]
Got it back after repair qoute this is how i drove it home 25 miles...

I wasnt letting anything go to waste.

      ...loaded up...

In the meantime of repairing the jetta, i bought a gti for a planned vr6 swap... haha didnt get very far:

got it into my stepdads barn, tor her apart then she sat.

floors when i first got the carpet up:

once i decided the jetta was out of the game i needed a new car, in came my almost no rust at all jetta coupe

so i swapped everything from 89 jetta into the coupe....

and ended up with this for a while:

but once winter came, i wanted to prepare for the coupes true overhual.
      1.8t
      o2m
      caged
      new paint
      full resto

...but i had to do something with the gti because only one space in the barn was mine, so the gti needed to be delt with. Thats about where i am, the coupe is in the driveway under a tarp and snow and the gti has the 8v from the coupe along with every other under car parts installed or partially installed, and im working on fixing the rusted floors...

once i decided the jetta was out of the game i needed a new car, in came my almost no rust at all jetta coupe shell, and i filled it with the 89 jetta heart and gti interior

stripped floors: theyve since been por 15'd

      motor in:

only other rust other than a 3x.5 in hole in floor

      Rokkors:

how it sat while on the road:

      1.8t
      o2m
      caged
      new paint
      full resto

so out with the motor again:

then it got put in the driveway.

...but i had to do something with the gti because only one space in the barn was mine, so the gti needed to be delt with. Thats about where i am, the coupe is in the driveway under a tarp and snow and the gti has the 8v from the coupe along with every other under car parts installed or partially installed, and im working on fixing the rusted floors...

      my little nook:

the k-frame bolt snapped off, so i had to cut it out and fix that... only picture i got was after with the "window" cut out tacked on

now this is what ive got done to the gti floors:

ive decided to also stripe the firewall too

Maybe a lift kit for this time of year or all times of year

I scraped a ball of frozen ice snow junk on my oil pan last night. Luckily mk3 steel just kinda dented a little.

      Nice Coupe btw!

The projects-per-post ratio in this thread is off the charts!!

I'll be investing in some POR-15 once spring hits, so this is a good reminder

pogress has been slim... started a new job, and sold the passat, inherited a danger ranger that was a REAL danger

but after a bit of this on the ranger:

the grinding is the unacceptable welds

but i did do a little more painting on the gti:

      no more rust in there

I have some Ranger stuff if you need it, also parting out a 97 Explorer if you want anything off that.

I like that roof rack in the pics, where can I get one just like it?
Buy my Helios Jetta 16V GLi. Do it.

not really, just slow stripping of the last few tight areas, planning my attack on sandblasting, i have the piece cut for the hole where the wheel well used to be but i cant find anyone that does beadrolling

i need to find money for a welder aswell to start plugging all those pescky holes VW so kindly inserted in the floors...

unfortunetly im having thoughts of deleting the sunroof... and if im going to do it, why not go all the way with a c/f roof? i mean the car is in a laminating shop
